September 5-8. 2013 at Yankee Stadium (Bronx, NY) Red Sox 9-8, Red Sox 12-8, Red Sox 13-9, Yankees 4-3 The first-place Sox took care of the Yankees and ended any hopes New York had of seeing a late-season push for the division. Game one was won with a 10th-inning RBI single from Shane Victorino, who also homered in the game. Game two was an emotional come from behind win for Boston, with the Yankees taking a an 8-3 lead into the 7th before Mike Napoli hit a grand slam and Victorino hit a 2-run home run to take the lead. Napoli hit two more HRs in the third game win, before the Yankees finally won the last game of the series.

August 16-18, 2013 at Fenway Park (Boston, MA) Yankees 10-3, Red Sox 6-1, Yankees 9-6 Andy Pettitte pitched 6.2 strong innings and Alfonso Soriano went 3-for-4 with a HR to lead the Yankees to a game one win, but the Yankees couldn’t find space in the Sox defense in game two. John Lackey didn’t pitch particularly well, but good enough to make a three-run fourth inning enough to win the game. Game three of the series was a close one, with the Sox taking a 6-3 lead early. New York bounced back in the 6th inning with a four-run rally behind Brett Gardner’s bases-clearing triple off Drake Britton. The Yankees bullpen was able to hold the lead to capture the 2-1 series win in Boston.
