The Cardinals have a rich baseball history, opening play in professional baseball as the Brown Stockings in 1882. The 1880s treated St. Louis nicely, as the team made four straight championship appearances, winning one and tying one series. With a number of stars coming through St. Louis, the Cardinals won the World Series in 1926, 1931, 1934, 1942, 1944 and 1946. Perhaps the most iconic Cardinal in the team’s illustrious history, Stan ‘The Man’ Musial played 22 seasons in St. Louis, taking part in the last three World Series titles. After Musial’s retirement the Cardinals didn’t lose a step, winning two more World Series in 1964 and 1967 with stars Lou Brock and Bob Gibson. After a lull in the ‘70s, the Cardinals reached three World Series in the 1980s, winning another title in 1982. In 1996 Tony LaRussa took over as manager of the Cardinals, cementing the team as one of the best in baseball for roughly two decades and counting. In LaRussa’s 16 seasons the St. Louis made nine playoff appearances, won seven NL Central titles, reached three World Series and won the franchise’s 10th and 11th championships. The Cardinals have retired the numbers of 12 former players and managers. Score with TicketCity - the place to go for St. Louis Cardinals baseball tickets.
2015 Cardinals Season Preview
If there is one thing that the St. Louis Cardinals have been known for over the last 4 years, it has be winning. The Cardinals have reached the last 4 NLCS, winning two NL titles and a World Series in that period. The 2014 St. Louis Cardinals won another NL central title and reached the NLCS, falling to the Giants in 5 games.
To push forward to another World Series in 2015, the St. Louis Cardinals will rely on many of the same faces. Returning in 2015 will be stars Matt Holliday, Jhonny Peralta, John Lackey, and Adam Wainwright. New Cardinals for 2015 will be Jason Heyward, and Jordan Walden. Look for the St. Louis Cardinals to once again be in the playoff race late into 2015, and for St. Louis to once again be one of the best teams in Major League Baseball.

Known as the Route 66 Rivalry, this is the premier matchup in the National League. Dating all the way back to 1885, these two clubs have met over 2,100 times. The overall series is only separated by about 30 games with the Cubs claiming a slight advantage. While the Yankees Red Sox rivalry maybe the media darling, this game is every bit as passionate and competitive. With much of the Midwest divided in loyalty between the Cubs and Cardinals, this series is about history, territory, and great baseball.
Cardinals vs. Royals
The I-70 series is a battle for the State of Missouri. While the Cardinals trace their origin back to the beginnings of major league baseball, the Royals are a relatively new team. The first meeting between these two teams was for the 1985 World Series. With the inception of interleague play in 1997, this has been an annual matchup that has been back and forth. This is one of the better interleague series and a highlight of every season for baseball fans in Missouri.
St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series, National League Championship Series and MLB Playoffs
