The Texas Rangers joined Major League Baseball in 1961 as the Washington Senators. The Senators’ franchise got off to an inauspicious start, as the team lost more than 100 games in each of its first four seasons. After a winning season in 1969, things quickly regressed for the Senators. Upon moving to Texas and becoming the Rangers, the franchise went back to its losing ways, dropping 100-plus games in its first two seasons in Texas. After those two rough seasons things slowly got better for the Rangers. Finally, after more than three decades of futility, the Rangers made the playoffs for the first time in 1996. Led by Juan Gonzalez and Ivan Rodriguez, the Rangers won 90 games and the AL West crown, but were eliminated from the playoffs in the Division Series. In 1998 and 1999 a similar story played out for Texas, as the team failed to win its first playoff series in franchise history. It wasn’t until 2010, with Josh Hamilton, Michael Young and Vladimir Guerrero, that the Rangers won a playoff series. That Texas team went all the way to the World Series before falling to the San Francisco Giants in five games. Just one season later the Rangers found themselves back in the World Series, but again they fell just short of their first title. The Rangers have retired the number of just one player in franchise history—pitcher Nolan Ryan’s No. 34.

Rangers vs Angels
The Rangers and Angels are AL West rivals who annually battle each other to win the division. Over the past fifteen years, the two squads have won the AL West 9 times. The rivalry has intensified recently as a couple prominent former-Rangers, CJ Wilson and Josh Hamilton, signed free agent contracts with the Angels. The verbal sparring and hard-fought battles on the field has made this into one of the top rivalries in baseball. Don’t miss a game whenever the Angels are visiting Globe Life Park.
The cities of Dallas and Houston have long debated which is the “top city” in Texas, so it’s only natural that their representative ball clubs now both compete in the American League West division. The games between the Rangers and Astros have been dubbed the Lone State Series or Silver Boot Series.

Celebrating America I went to my first Rangers game on the 4th of July. Not only did the Rangers win, but there was a fireworks show following the game. I can't think of many things more American than baseball and fireworks so it was the perfect way to spend the day. Since the Rangers colors are red, white, and blue, it was even better seeing the ballpark filled with America's colors! I'll definitely be going to another game soon. July 7, 2011
Angels and Rangers We went to the Rangers game in July when they played the Angels. The Rangers lost (sad) but it was a great experience for everyone that we went with, including my 10 month old niece who attended her first baseball game! We arrived about 20 minutes late (timeliness with a baby in tow is a challenge for sure!) which caused parking to be a bit of a disaster. I would definitely recommend getting there at least 20 minutes early to avoid that issue. Also, you have to try the garlic fries that can be found on the first level concourse, they are delicious! (Warning: avoid if you are on a date) All in all, the experience was fantastic and definitely a good outing for large groups or families. August 4, 2010
Texas Rangers World Series There is no such thing as a bad seat in the infield, no matter the level. This was an awesome experience. I can totally recommend that everyone attend a Rangers game. The World Series is electric but so are regular season games. Everyone should go at one time or another.... ten stars October 24, 2011
