The Talladega Superspeedway has been coupled with Daytona as “The Big One,” meaning they have seen multiple 7+ car pile-ups than any other track, mainly because this track requires restrictor plates and it is one of the biggest tracks. Despite the “499” in the race name, it is in fact a 500-mile race. The track is the longest NASCAR raceway at 2.66 miles around, taking 188 laps to complete the race. It is an oval track with four turns. Seating capacity is 175,000, stretching from turns four to turn one and more along the back straight. Not only does Talladega host the NASCAR Sprint Series, but also the Nationwide Series and the Camping World Truck Series.
Talladega has a label it would like to shelve, but reoccurring events keep enforcing it. Since the track was built, many strange incidents have happen. One driver pulled off the track after he heard voices tell him to do so and in the same race one driver died in what appeared to be a minor incident. Some rumors claim it is a curse put about by early Native Americans or Shamans. Coupled with this, it is the fastest track in NASCAR. Call TicketCity and get your event pass for a Hallowdega night!
Pick your own view; every seat has a distinctive vantage point and everyone likes to see his or her own racing action. Seating goes across from turn one so fans are seated facing pit road and continues into turn four. This track has an unusual start/finish line; it sits after the pit road exit, making turn one the spot for the checkered. If you like watching the last turn to victory, sit in turn four in Gadsden. Like watching pit action? Get center seat in Tri-Oval Tower or OV Hill. Want to see the start of the race? Sit in turn one in Talladega or Talladega Tower. There is also seating on the backstretch in turn two in Allison. This section allows the fans to see action coming out of turn one, down the backstretch and going into turn four. When sitting in the lower grandstands, wear earplugs and clear glasses. Ladies, tie your hair back as the wind from the cars comes fast.
