Brooklyn Nets Ticket Information

The Brooklyn Nets began playing professional basketball in the 1967-68 season as a part of the ABA. The franchise would play nine seasons in the ABA before making the jump to the NBA after the merger. Led by Julius Erving, the Nets won two championships in the ABA. Upon moving to the NBA the Nets endured four straight losing seasons, but then rattled off a five-year stretch during which they made the playoffs every year. From the mid-1980s through the new millennium the Nets were fairly consistently a bottom feeder in the NBA—making the playoffs just four times and compiling a winning record three times. Fortunes changed for the Nets in the 2001-2002 season, when the team acquired All-Star point guard Jason Kidd. Kidd guided his club to back-to-back Finals appearances, but both times the Nets fell just short of capturing the franchise’s first NBA championship—first to the Los Angeles Lakers, then to the San Antonio Spurs. With the addition of Vince Carter, the Nets made the playoffs the next four seasons, but still couldn’t win a title. In 2012 the Nets moved to Brooklyn, where they are building a roster that should compete in the Eastern Conference. The Nets have retired the numbers of six players in the franchise’s history. 2014 Nets Season Preview

This is now one of the most fearsome rosters in the NBA with the trade to acquire Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, as well as a separate trade that nabbed Joe Johnson in July. Deron Williams has a lot of pieces around him now, and new head coach Jason Kidd is looking to make a splash in the Eastern Conference right away by toppling the Miami Heat as kings of the East. The Nets also added Jason Terry as a back-up point guard and signed Andrei Kirilenko to a deal after a solid year in Minnesota.

The Nets will get their chance straight away, with a season-opener at the Barclays Center against the NBA Champion Miami Heat. Other key home games will be vs. the Lakers on Nov. 27, vs. the Knicks on Dec. 5 and against the Bulls and Derrick Rose on Christmas Day with the whole world watching.

Brooklyn Nets Rivals

These two franchises continue to be bitter rivals due to their close proximity. The Nets have often times been looked at as the little brother in this matchup. With the Nets moving from New Jersey to Brooklyn, the rivalry will only become more intense between the teams and the fan bases as the franchises fight for bragging rights in New York City.

Nets vs. Celtics

This rivalry has a chance to elevate itself near the top of the NBA after former Celtics stars Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were traded to the Nets. A matchup that was already very hostile and often times featured physical play after the whistle, it will only be natural for the bitterness between these two teams to reach new heights.

Nets in the NBA Finals, Eastern Conference Championships and NBA Playoffs

The Nets have been in the NBA since 1976 and have won multiple Eastern Conference Championships. Brooklyn has won over three division titles and will only add to that number in the years to come. With the move to Brooklyn, the Nets are hopeful they can regain the consistency that saw them become of the best teams in the East during the mid-2000s.

Brooklyn Nets Event Guide

What time do gates open prior to tipoff for a Nets game?

Doors at Barclays Center open to the general public 90 minutes before game time. We recommend getting there when the doors open to avoid long lines at the gate. Barclays Center is one of the newest and most unique venues in the NBA and you are going to want to take advantage of every minute you can spend inside.

Where are some good places to eat before a Nets game?

Barclays Center is located in the same neighborhood as some of the best food in the world. If you are looking for something truly Brooklyn, try Bark Hot Dogs. Don’t let the name fool you, this place has artesian sausages and unbelievable milk shakes that will not leave you disappointed. Another great pre-game spot is The Smoke Joint. Offering some of the best barbeque in New York, it is often filled with Nets fans. For trendier places try No.7, or Stonehome Wine Bar and Restaurant. Both are upscale but casual and will satisfy even the most die-hard foodies out there. For quick places that will give you a great Brooklyn experience, try South Brooklyn Pizza, Kulushkat Gourmet Falafel, or Bierkraft.

Where are good places to park at Barclays Center?

Parking at the Barclays Center is extremely limited. The only real chance of getting a parking spot is to purchase a parking pass in advance and to arrive early. This is one of the venues that it is really not worth the trouble to drive to. We strongly recommend taking the subway. It lets off right next to the arena, is cheap, full of Nets fans, and lets you start the celebration early.

Does my child need a ticket to the Nets game?

Children ages 3 and up need a ticket to enter Barclays Center. If you plan on bringing a child under 3 years old to the game, don’t forget to bring proof of their age to ensure that they are allowed to enter.

Nets Raptors Playoff Game was amazing We attended Game 3 of the Brooklyn Nets versus Raptors playoff series. Brooklyn won, but the Raptors played hard and almost overtook them at the end. The Barclays Arena was amazing and just a short ride from Manhattan. We ate dinner inside and were impressed with the flavor of the food. Our seats were only a few rows off the court and almost directly across from the Raptors bench. It was an amazing view of the game. We already planning another trip to the game next season. A great time was had by all, the only downside was the Raptors lost. Go Raptors! #WeTheNorth #Ticketcity April 28, 2014
