Denver Nuggets Season Preview History

2013-14 DENVER NUGGETS SEASON PREVIEW
The Nuggets, sporting a 57-win regular season and a #3 seed in the Western Conference playoffs, looked to be one of the toughest squads to knock out of the postseason. However, a 4-2 loss to Golden State in the first round saw the end of the season and the firing of NBA Coach of the Year George Karl. Corey Brewer and Andre Iguodala also left town in free agency. The Nuggets have added Randy Foye, Darrell Arthur and Nate Robinson to help with the transition to new coach Brian Shaw for the 2013-14 season.

The Nuggets look poised to continue scoring lots of points behind PG Ty Lawson and top rebounder Kenneth Faried. JaVale McGee will start at center, and the high-flying big man will have his opportunity to make a big impression on Shaw early on. The Nuggets have had a lot of turnover, but this team has been retooled for another run at the playoffs.

2012-13 DENVER NUGGETS SEASON PREVIEW
The Denver Nuggets proved that they were once again one of the most feared teams in the Western Conference during the 2011-12 season. With a 38-28 record, a second place finish in the Northwest division and the sixth seed in the playoffs, the Nuggets were confident they could take the next step over their rivals. Against the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the playoffs, the Nuggets came back from a 3-1 deficit to force a Game 7, but ran out of gas and couldn't complete a stunning turnaround. From top to bottom, the Nuggets have one of the deepest rosters in the NBA, but entering the offseason the team was looking for that spark that could possibly put the team over the top.

The offseason saw the departure of veterans like Arron Affalo and Al Harrington, but the Nuggets quickly got active in the free agent market by sneaking into the Dwight Howard trade to nab Andre Iguodala away from the 76ers. The team also re-signed JaVale McGee to solidify the center position behind Kosta Koufos, as well as bringing in big man Anthony Randolph to provide depth at the power forward position. In the draft, the Nuggets may have found two important role players for the season ahead, including French standout shooting guard Evan Fournier and Quincy Miller, a talented forward from Baylor.

While there are a few new faces on the Nuggets' roster, the team remains largely the same from a year ago and head coach George Karl hopes he can put together a winning formula. At point guard, Ty Lawson and Andre Miller form an athletic tandem, while the arrival of Andre Iguodala should help Evan Fournier learn the shooting guard position slowly, while Corey Brewer provides depth. At forward, Kenneth Faried has really come into his own at the position, while Danilo Gallinari provides a size and shooting threat that has made him a fan favorite. Anthony Randolph is certainly the wild card of the group who has big time skills but has to play more consistently.

The Nuggets certainly didn't go out and splurge on a mega talent during the offseason, but rather worked on the fringe to strengthen a lineup that pushed the Lakers to the verge of elimination in the playoffs. They have given themselves financial flexibility to swing a deal and have constructed an up-and-coming roster that could cause Western Conference opponents fits during this season and beyond.

2010-2011 Denver Nuggets NBA Preview:
There's a lot of uncertainty heading into the season for the Denver Nuggets. Although Carmelo Anthony is still on the roster, the possibility of him being traded at any point in the near future is very real, leaving the team without its leading scorer from a year ago. The Nuggets were bounced from the playoffs by the Utah Jazz last season, and if they manage to retain Anthony, they can certainly make a run at the post-season once again.

While Anthony was the leader of the offense last season with 28.2 points a game, he is surrounded by a number of talented players. Veteran point guard Chauncey Billups is experienced at running an offense, but can also be a scoring threat as he averaged 19.5 points a game last season. Additionally, Kenyon Martin, Arron Afflalo and J.R. Smith are all reliable scorers.

The Nuggets have one of the best defensive big men in the NBA in center Chris Andersen. The 6-foot-10 Andersen averaged 1.9 blocks a game while bringing down 6.4 rebounds per contest. Joining Andersen off the bench is Ty Lawson, who is in his second year out of North Carolina and can definitely contribute if he stays healthy.

2009-2010 Denver Nuggets NBA Preview:
Fans of the Denver Nuggets have reason for excitement as the team heads into the 2009-2010 season, because the Nuggets are back. Following a strong postseason run last year that had Denver competing with the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals; Nuggets players have their sights set on an NBA Championship. Nuggets Head Coach George Karl has a veteran lineup that is led by Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups. If those three can spark Denver through a tough Western Conference then the Nuggets could hang their first NBA Championship banner.

2008-2009 Denver Nuggets NBA Preview:
The Denver Nuggets are a key team to watch in the West this year. With superstars Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony, the Denver Nuggets will look to rival the Phoenix Suns and the big teams from Texas for tops in the Western Conference. The newest Denver Nuggets lineup is viewed as a sign of a renaissance for Denver basketball. Watching a game at the Pepsi Center in Denver will be a high-flying action packed experience you won’t soon forget.
