Houston Rockets Season Preview History

Houston Rockets 2012 NBA Season Preview:
The Rockets are looking forward to a year where they can put up the team stats they dished in 2010-11—first in assists, third in points per game, seventh in rebounds—and make the playoffs. They’re past the Yao Ming era, and must rely on a new group of young players like guards Kevin Marchtin and Kyle Lowery to lead the team. While their speedy guard combo likes to dish, Luis Scola is an All-Star center that has the middle clogged, and is now the leader of a front court that ranked seventh in the league in rebounds. If Houston can contain other teams defensively a bit more—they were 22nd in points allowed last year—the Rockets are one of the teams that could be in for bigger things in 2012.

2010-2011 Houston Rockets NBA Preview:
Despite an injury-plagued campaign last season, the Houston Rockets managed to almost sneak into the playoffs, but fell just short of securing the eighth seed in the Western Conference. The Rockets return this year with a youthful lineup and several new additions in the hopes of returning to the postseason once again.

One of the biggest moves the Rockets made during the offseason was signing center Brad Miller. The addition of Miller may prove beneficial as it was recently announced that Yao Ming would be limited to just 24 minutes a game after a season-ending injury a year ago. The Rockets will also be aided by one of the up-and-coming guards in the league, Aaron Brooks. Along with Brooks, Luis Scola is coming off an impressive showing in the FIBA World Championships, and leading scorer Kevin Martin is back as well.

Although the core of the team is young, their youth may also be a hindrance. There are eight players on the roster under 25, and the lack of experience may hurt them down the stretch.

2009-2010 Houston Rockets NBA Preview:
There is a new sheriff in-town for the Houston Rockets, and his name is Trevor Ariza. During the offseason the Rockets essentially swapped with the Los Angeles Lakers; giving up Ron Artest and signing free agent Ariza. If Ariza can bring the same spark to Houston that he provided in L.A., then look for the scrappy Rockets squad to go deeper in the playoffs than they did last season.

2008-2009 Houston Rockets NBA Preview:
The Houston Rockets are one of the most passionate teams in the NBA. Houston Rockets players are devoted and loyal to the succcess of the team as well as its teammates, most notably its current list of players Tracy McGrady, Yao Ming and Steve Francis. The Rockets are armed and dangerous with a blend of defense and offense that could earn them 60+ wins this season. Look out for this dedicated Houston team, as fans are expecting an enthusiastic and exciting season this year.
