Los Angeles Clippers Season Preview History

L.A. CLIPPERS 2013-14 SEASON PREVIEW
The Clippers won their first Pacific Division title in franchise history in the 2012-13 Season, winning 56 games in the regular season before falling to Memphis in six games in the first round of the playoffs. The Clippers became the third team in NBA history to go undefeated in a month, winning all 16 games in December. L.A. returned their key players while adding sharpshooter J.J. Redick to the mix, as well as bringing in Doc Rivers to coach the team.

The Clippers start off the season in Sacramento, and will play their first home game at the Staples Center on Nov. 4 against the Rockets. Other big home games include vs. Oklahoma City on Nov. 13, vs. Chicago on Nov. 24 and vs. the Lakers on Jan. 10. They’ll be on the national stage on Christmas Day when they take on the Warriors in Oakland.

L.A. CLIPPERS 2012-13 SEASON PREVIEW
The Los Angeles Clippers have been the lovable losers for decades in the NBA, but during the 2011-12 season, the team went all in and signed a bevy of talent to created one of the better teams in the league. In the advent of the trade for point guard Chris Paul from the New Orleans Hornets and the continued development of forward Blake Griffin. The two have turned out to create a certainly dynamic duo that resulted in the Clippers' highest winning percentage in their history with a 40-26 record, as well as an opening round win over the Memphis Grizzlies in the playoffs before they were swept by the Spurs in the semifinals. Instead of taking a step forward, the Clippers have taken a giant leap ahead and are now in the conversation among the best teams in the Western Conference.

The Clippers headed into the offseason looking to improve their depth, as they let go a variety of role players like Mo Williams, Reggie Evans, Nick Young and Kenyon Martin. As a result, the team went out and signed for NBA Sixth Man of the Year Lamar Odom at forward, at ageless Grant Hill at forward and Jamal Crawford at shooting guard. Each of these players brings starting experience to the table and should also be boosted by the arrival of point guard Chauncey Billups, who will provide superior depth behind Paul.

Looking at the rest of the Clippers' roster, it's easy to see that the point guard position is far more solid than it was a year ago, with players like Billups and Eric Bledsoe providing depth behind Paul. At shooting guard, the team signed Willie Green in the offseason to provide a boost off the bench, but the guard position will rely mainly on a Crawford, Paul and Billups trio. At the power forward position, Blake Griffin is obviously the strongest starter of the bunch, but the Clippers could receive a huge boost from Lamar Odom if he can return to his form when he played with the Los Angeles Lakers. At small forward, Caron Butler has emerged as a solid starter, and the team improved its depth at the position by signing Matt Barnes. At center, DeAndre Jordan is one of the best in the game, and his backups, Ronny Turiaf and Ryan Hollins, have the size and ability to move to forward in a pinch.

A top seed in the postseason is not out of the question for the Clippers, but they will have to receive bigger contributions from their depth players to get past the Lakers, Thunder and Spurs who are the class of the Western Conference.

2010-2011 Los Angeles Clippers NBA Preview:
The Los Angeles Clippers have long been second fiddle to the two-time defending champion Lakers. It doesn't help that the Clippers have made the playoffs just once in the last 13 seasons, and with no big offseason acquisitions to speak of, it appears as though the Clippers may once again be left out of the playoffs while their crosstown rivals compete for the title.

The offense is run by a pair of guards, Eric Gordon and Baron Davis. Both are reliable floor leaders, but neither are the type of player that teams design an offense around. Last year's leading scorer, center Chris Kaman, is back after averaging 18.5 points a game - leading to the seven footer's first All Star Game appearance.

The Clippers have several new faces that are looking to come in and make a difference. Brian Cook, Craig Smith and Randy Foye were all picked up in the offseason, but the moves cost them a number of players and left them about even with where they started. Rookies Eric Bledose and Al-Farouq Aminu are both talented, but may be unable to return the Clippers to the post season.

2009-2010 Los Angeles Clippers NBA Preview:

The Los Angeles Clippers are hoping to improve upon their 19 wins from last year as they move into the 2009-2010 NBA season. The Clippers will be lead by Head Coach Mike Dunleavy Sr, point guard Baron Davis and new star Blake Griffin. The Clippers have some talent on their roster, so if Davis and his backup Bassy Telfair can get the team pointed in the right direction then look out for L.A.

2008-2009 Los Angeles Clippers NBA Preview:
The Los Angeles Clippers will be an intense team to watch in a tough division this season in the NBA. Despite losing their leading scorer in Corey Maggette and their leading rebounder and blocker in Elton Brand, the Clippers have acquired some amazing talent. Baron Davis will be an asset for the Clippers at point guard and Marcus Camby and Jason Hart are going to turn heads as well. Match these three stars with draft picks Eric Gordon and DeAndre Jordan and you have one of the strongest teams in the West Division. Come watch a basketball game at the famed Staples Center in Los Angeles and you will bask in the talent of this playoff ready Clippers team.
