Los Angeles Lakers Season Preview History

Los Angeles Lakers 2012 NBA Season Preview:
While the Lakers weren’t able to land Chris Paul this offseason, the nucleus (minus Lamar Odom, who was shipped off to Dallas) that captured the Pacific division and second seed in the West last year is still there. The lockout is a mixed blessing for the team who, after several championships won and sought after, logged in the most minutes of any team over the past half-decade. While they had time to rest and recoup (and dance and change their name like Ron Artest, nee Metta World Peace), the upcoming season has weeks of three consecutive games that will be a test to the knees of future Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant and his teammates Andrew Bynum and Derek Fisher. The difference-maker will, of course, be Bryant, who has been the barometer for the team—as he goes, the team does. It will be interesting to see how the schedule and the tumult surrounding the team and its trades affect one of the signature franchises in all of sports.

2010-2011 Los Angeles Lakers NBA Preview:
Despite being the two-time defending NBA Champions, the Los Angeles Lakers are being overlooked by a lot of experts who expect the fully loaded Miami Heat to take over the crown. Although Miami is stocked with talent, the Lakers have just about everybody returning from last year's championship run, and a healthy Kobe Bryant could mean a third straight title for L.A.

With his fifth championship, Bryant has firmly cemented himself as one of the NBA's all-time great players. At 32-years-old, many believe him to be slowing down, but he averaged 27 points a game last year, and proved that he is one of the most clutch shooters in the league's history.

While Bryant is certainly a dynamic player, he is surrounded by a talented supporting cast, highlighted by center Pau Gasol, who averaged 18.3 points and 11.7 rebounds a game last season. Lamar Odom has proven that he can be counted on for approximately 10 points a game, and Ron Artest will look to be a lock-down defender once again. A deep bench, highlighted by Luke Walton, Matt Barnes and Shannon Brown, makes a Lakers three-peat very possible.

2009-2010 Los Angeles Lakers NBA Preview:

The Los Angeles Lakers head into the 2009-2010 season looking to repeat as NBA Champions. Standing in the Lakers way will be a stronger Western Conference and a few big teams from back East. The Lakers did not spend their entire off-season celebrating the championship and planning weddings, they made a move to improve their team. The Lakers signed SF Ron Artest away from Houston to add some toughness and defense to an already outstanding lineup. Lakers Head Coach Phil Jackson returns, along with all-star Kobe Bryant. Jackson, Bryant and Artest will lead a talented lineup on their quest for a 16th Lakers NBA Championship.

2008-2009 Los Angeles Lakers NBA Preview:
With Kobe Bryant sill on the roster, the Los Angeles Lakers are going to be one of the most exciting teams in the NBA this season. Bryant can often carry games by himself, scoring an outlandish number of points and turning the tide of a game in a heartbeat. His numbers during the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing were incredible, and he carried Team USA all the way to the gold medal. This team is going to make a serious push for the playoffs - get ready for another exciting year.

Watching a Laker Game at the Staples Center never disappoints. Who can forget the incredible play of former greats Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, just to name a few? The current Laker lineup still has that same star power and potential for excitement.
