The Memphis Grizzlies are a relatively young franchise, joining the NBA as an expansion team for the 1995-1996 season. Things weren’t great for the Grizzlies at the beginning of the team’s run in the NBA. The then-Vancouver based franchise failed to win so much as 20 games in a season until their fourth year in the NBA. Their third season, the lockouts shortened 1999-2000 campaign, the Grizzlies finished just 8-40—a .160 winning percentage. After failing to reach 30 wins in any of the team’s first eight seasons, the Grizzlies won 50 games in the 2003-2004 season, making the playoffs for the first time. Led by Spanish big man Pau Gasol, the Grizzlies made the playoffs for three straight seasons, but they did not win a playoff series in that time. After a four year absence from postseason play, the Grizzlies have made the playoffs each of their past three seasons. In 2011 Memphis won its first playoff series, and in 2013 the Grizzlies reached the Western Conference Finals for the first time in franchise history. Given its relative youth, the franchise has yet to retire any numbers. Score with TicketCity - the place to go for Memphis Grizzlies basketball tickets.
2014 Grizzlies Season Preview
Memphis won 56 games in the 2012-13 Season and even knocked out a higher seed in the playoffs, but the Spurs were on another level and swept them out of the Western Conference Finals. This year, with their core players still there and the addition of sharpshooter Mike Miller, they’ll look for an even better finish. Dave Joerger was promoted to head coach after the Grizz brass couldn’t come to terms with Lionel Hollins. Memphis’s defense should be stout enough once again to give them a legitimate shot at the NBA Finals.
Memphis kicks off the season at home against Detroit on Nov. 1 before heading to Dallas the next day. Key home games include vs. San Antonio on Nov. 22, vs. the Clippers on Dec. 5 and vs. Chicago on Nov. 30.

Grizzlies vs. Spurs
As inner-division foes, the Grizzlies and the Spurs continue to form one of the better rivalries in the NBA. The two teams have met over 70 times during the regular season and have played in three postseason series including two of the last three seasons. Memphis and San Antonio played in the 2013 Western Conference Finals which has only added fuel to this up-and-coming rivalry.
Grizzlies vs. Mavericks
The young talent of the Grizzles against the veteran laded Mavericks has made this match-up a must see. The two teams are often fighting for division supremacy with the highlight of the rivalry coming in the 2006 Western Conference playoffs. Memphis and Dallas met in the first round of the postseason that year. With over 65 regular season meetings between the two teams, the Grizzlies and the Mavericks will only continue to add to their rivalry.
Grizzlies vs. Rockets
The Grizzlies and the Rockets continue to build on a rivalry that is often hard fought and the intensity level is at its highest. The two teams have faced off over 70 times and will only add to that number in the upcoming seasons. As division foes, Memphis and Houston are often fighting for a division title which only heightens this rivalry.
Grizzlies in the NBA Finals, Western Conference Championships and NBA Playoffs
The Grizzlies are quickly becoming one of the top teams in the NBA. The last few seasons, Memphis has started to compete for a Western Conference title with their closest opportunity coming in the 2012-2013 season. The Grizzlies made the Western Conference Finals for the first time in franchise history. With a young roster, it does not appear Memphis is slowing down anytime soon.

Memphis Grizzlies 1 1
Always Goodtimes at a Grizzlies Game! My husband got me turned on to the Memphis Grizzlies when we first started dating. I had been to see the Detroit Pistons and Chicago Bulls (when I lived in both cities) and after I moved back to Arkansas, I felt that I would never get a chance to see another NBA game again. WRONG! I've had a chance to see the Grizzlies play the Lakers, Bulls, and other great teams. In addition, the fans are awesome. Although it's a two hour drive, it's worth it! We always have good times at a Grizzlies game! December 12, 2012
