The Dallas Mavericks play in the Southwest Division of the NBA's Western Conference.  The Mavs franchise was founded in 1980.  The Mavericks history has been an up-and-down existence, where they had great success and struggles.  Even though the Mavs have never won an NBA title, their recent success was affirmed with their trip to the NBA Finals in 2006.
