2009-2010 Golden State Warriors NBA Preview:
The Golden State Warriors should once again be an exciting team in the 2009-2010 NBA season. Head Coach Don Nelson has a roster stocked with athletic talent; the question is whether he can put the pieces together to get the Warriors back in the playoffs. Monta Ellis and Corey Maggette should help lead the Warriors offensive attack. If they can get Golden State playing up to their potential, then the Warriors should be one of the eight teams in the Western Conference playoffs.

GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS EXPERIENCE:
The Golden State Warriors play in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Warriors were formed in Philadelphia in 1946 where they won a league championship in their first season. The team was moved to San Francisco in 1962 and changed its name to the San Francisco Warriors, and changed it back ten years later. The team is currently the only team in the NBA without a city or state name to accompany their franchise mascot. Led by Rick Barry, the Golden State Warriors won its last NBA title in 1975 against the Washington Bullets in what many consider the biggest upset in NBA history. The team would struggle until the late 1980's and early 1990's when the Golden State Warriors achieved some playoff success under the leadership of Tim Hardaway, Mitch Richmond, and Chris Mullin.

The Golden State Warriors were an early competitor in the NBA, glowing with presence and hoop skills. From 1962 to their championship in 1975, the Warriors were the apple of America's basketball eye. The Warriors' sweep of the Washington Nationals in the 1975 NBA Finals was absolutely surprising and marked the culmination of the dedication and work ethic of the team. With the entrance of "Run-T.M.C." (Tim Hardaway, Mitch Mitch Richmond, and Chris Mullin), the team connected with their fans (and the net) for the first time in over a decade, and put them back in the eye of the press. The Golden State Warriors have wached some of the most successful players pass through their ranks, including Wilt Chamberlain, Joe Fulks, Rick Barry, Robert Parish, Neil Johnston, Nate Thurmond and many more.

The Golden State Warriors play their home games in the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. The arena opened in 1966 and, since its massive remodel in 1997, seats just over 19,500. The arena managed to accommodate over 20,000 fans for the Utah Jazz series in 2007, breaking all California basketball attendance records. Watching the Warriors play at the Oracle Arena, you'll see unparalleled fan support and one of the fastest-paced teams in the NBA.
