The Memphis Grizzlies play in the Southwest Division of the Western Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The team was formed in 1995 in Vancouver, British Columbia along with the Toronto Raptors, as part of the NBA's expansion into Canada. After little success and low attendance in Vancouver, the team was sold and moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 2001. Although the Grizzlies have managed to make the playoffs in recent years, the team has had little success against their opponents in the West.
