PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS
The Portland Trailblazers have been one of the most consistent playoff performers of the modern era of the NBA. With 29 playoff appearances, six conference finals showdowns and three NBA Finals trips to their credit, the Trailblazers have built some of the most competitive rosters in basketball history.
The Trailblazers have had a number of big names wear the red, white and black over the years, including Hall of Famer Bill Walton, who helped the team win their sole championship. The team was a consistent presence in the playoffs during the 1980s and '90s, thanks to stars such as Clyde Drexler, Drazen Petrovic and Sam Bowie.
The squad's lone title run occurred during the 1976-77 season, when center Bill Walton, forwards Maurice Lucas and Geoff Petrie, as well as guards Larry Steele and Lionel Hollins, formed a formidable attack. The Trailblazers then went on to beat the Bulls, Nuggets and Lakers handily in the first three rounds before shocking Julius Erving and the Philadelphia 76ers in six games to capture the NBA title.
During the 1990-91 season Portland would come close to recapturing the glory of their 1977 title, but later lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in six games. Still, the squad is still widely considered to be one of the best teams in NBA history thanks to an impressive postseason record.
