New Orleans Pelicans Games at the Smoothie King Center
The Pelicans play their home games at the Smoothie King Center in downtown New Orleans, Louisiana. The Smoothie King Center has a listed capacity of 16,867 fans for a Pelicans game. It is located steps from the Superdome, which forms a nice sports entertainment district in that portion of the city. The venue opened in 1999, but has received upgrades in recent years to keep pace with other top NBA arenas. The Smoothie King Center has been the host venue for the NBA All-Star Game 3 times.
There are two primary levels at the Smoothie King Center, the upper-level and lower-level, along with suites which ring the arena. The upper-level includes Sections 301-332, and most sections have 17-20 Rows staring with Row 1. The lower-level includes Sections 101-124, and consists of a handful of Floor Seats, with the rest located on the risers coming up from floor. The majority of 100-level sections go up to Row 23 or Row 25. The New Orleans Pelicans home bench is on the Smoothie King Center court side in front of Section 111 and the Visitors bench is located in-front of Section 114.
New Orleans is a favorite spot for visiting NBA fans to trip to during the season. The Pelicans play next to the Superdome near the French Quarter. That makes it easy for fans to find a close by hotel and check out the local New Orleans experience. When you are in New Orleans for a Pelicans game, check out Mother's restaurant, Port of Call and (of course) Cafe du Monde for beignet.
