The Knicks were a charter organization of the Basketball Association of America in 1946. Success wasn't hard to come by for New York in the early years, making the playoffs in each of the franchise's first 10 seasons and reaching the finals three times. In the late 1960s New York embarked on perhaps the franchise's greatest era. Red Holzman was hired as the head coach in 1967 and constructed a team that would compete with the NBA's elites. With a roster of eventual Hall-of-Famers in Walt Frazier, Willis Reed, Dave DeBusschere, Bill Bradley and eventually Earl Monroe and Jerry Lucas, the Knicks won the NBA championship in the 1969-70 season. Emblematic of that season is the image of Reed limping onto the court to start Game 7 of the NBA Finals against the Lakers despite his debilitating leg injury. During the 1972-73 season the Knicks captured their second of two championships, once more at the expense of the Lakers. After winning the draft lottery and landing Patrick Ewing in the 1985 draft, the Knicks again experienced a stretch of success, reaching the NBA finals in 1994 and 1999. The Knicks have retired the numbers of eight players and retired the number 613 for Holzman. Score with TicketCity - the place to go for New York Knicks basketball tickets.
2014 Knicks Season Preview
A #2 playoff seed behind solid outside shooting turned into a disappointing exit when the shots stopped falling, but the New York Knicks are sure they can contend for an Eastern Conference championship once again in 2013. New York added Andrea Bargnani, Metta World Peace, Cole Aldrich and Beno Udrih to a team that won 54 games in the 2012-13 season, and while they gave up a lot in the trade to get Bargnani, the big man will give Carmelo an inside presence they’ve been lacking with Amar’e Stoudemire constantly injured.
The Knicks will open the season at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 3, with the Minnesota Timberwolves coming to the Big Apple. Other key home games will be vs. San Antonio on Nov. 10, vs. the Bulls on Dec. 11, and vs. Brooklyn on Jan. 20 that now includes Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce.

These two teams have met every season since 1966, but evolved into one of the top rivalries in the NBA in the late 1980s and early 1990s when both teams competed for an NBA title on a regular basis. The two teams often met in the playoffs during that stretch and with iconic players like Michael Jordan and Patrick Ewing gracing the court, it was no surprise that this became one of the better rivalries. Where is the best way to get to Madison Square Garden?
The thing about parking at MSG is that there isn't any; don't drive. The arena sits on top of Penn Station giving you the perfect (and only legitimate) the subway. There are some parking garages in the area not associated with MSG, but you have to have an expensive pre-paid pass, fight through NYC traffic both ways, and it is really much more trouble than it is worth. Take the subway, start some cheers with the other Knicks fans, and have a great time.
What are the best concessions at Madison Square Garden?
This is a unique arena in that eating food at the game is a must. There are the typical hot dog, nachos, and comfort foods that you cannot go wrong with. But we recommend trying some of the specialties. Hill Country has a barbeque stand inside that is so good it is worth spilling a little sauce on your Knicks jersey just to have a taste. Daily Burger is another stand that is worth visiting and is among the best burgers you can eat at a sporting event. Sausage Boss and The Ainsworth Pub are also worth checking out.

Happy New York Knicks Fan Rick helped with very good seats to a New York Knicks game in April 2012. The seats were very good and I appreciated the good service I received. The tickets arrived timely via Fed Ex and my kids were able to say hello to the players as they came out of the locker room. The kids were able to stand on the court and have their pictures taken as the seats were that good and close to the court. I will absolutely use Rick and Ticketcity again. Thank you. November 15, 2012
