Oklahoma City Thunder Season Preview History
Oklahoma City Thunder 2012 NBA Season Preview:
If you’re looking for one of the most potent, young teams in the NBA, the list will always begin with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Led by small forward Kevin Durant, one of the most intriguing and popular players in the NBA, the Thunder have a starting five that is arguably one of the best in the NBA and ranked fifth in scoring. Point guard Russell Westbrook is the hidden gem that emerged last year to be the Robin to Durant’s Batman, and is now an All-Star who is looking to expand his game another year into his collaboration. Serge Ibaka is another revelation that OKC has stumbled upon, a hybrid center/forward that was one of the league leaders in blocks and one of the leaders of a frontcourt that ranked eighth in the league in rebounds. The mid-season trade with the Boston Celtics that brought in forward Jeff Green and Kendrick Perkins last year only solidified a team that’s going to be a perennial fixture in the championship run, and a fun one at that.
2010-2011 Oklahoma City Thunder NBA Preview:
The Oklahoma City Thunder surprised skeptics last year when they rode a young team to the playoffs, and brought eventual NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers to six games in the first round. Led by one of the best players in the league, Kevin Durant, the Thunder look poised to make a run to become a serious contender for the Western Conference title.
The Thunder did not change their line up much from last year's team, but they did not really have to. Durant averaged more than 30 points per game, and is considered by some to challenge LeBron James and Kobe Bryant for MVP this coming season. Durant is also lucky enough to have a talented teammate in Russell Westbrook, who runs the point very effectively, and averaged 8 assists a game last season.
The success of Oklahoma City's season hinges largely on how much of an impact their role players can make. Eric Maynor, James Harden and Serge Ibaka all had solid years in 2009. The Thunder also had a relatively productive draft, highlighted by the addition of Kansas stand out Cole Aldrich, who should provide some depth.
2009-2010 Oklahoma City Thunder NBA Preview:
Fans of the Oklahoma City Thunder should be excited about their young team as OKC heads into the 2009-2010 NBA season; their second in Oklahoma City. The Thunder are led by young superstar, Kevin Durant, who is one of the most talented young players in basketball. If Durant and his pals, Jeff Green and Russell Westbrook can mesh with new addition James Harden, then the Thunder might emerge as one of the dark horse teams in the Western Conference.
2008-2009 Oklahoma City Thunder NBA Preview:
The Oklahoma City Thunder are one of the most exciting teams to watch this season because of the star power in phenom Kevin Durant. This brand new Oklahoma team will bring the tradition and feel of the SuperSonics, but with a fresh new appearance - not to mention, some fresh new talent. Both Jeff Green and Kevin Durant are going to grow with this team and make the Oklahoma City Thunder the team to beat in a short time. Watching a game in the Ford Center this season should be an exciting look at one of the most highly touted new teams in recent memory.
