Philadelphia 76ers Ticket Information

The Philadelphia 76ers franchise traces its roots all the way back to the inaugural season of the NBA in 1949, when they were known as the Syracuse Nationals. The Nationals entered the NBA as a powerhouse, making the playoffs each of the franchise’s first 22 seasons. The team made the finals in the league’s first season, but it wasn’t until 1955 that Dolph Schayes and Syracuse hung its first championship banner. Before the 1963-64 season the Naitonals moved to Philadelphia after the Warriors’ move out west. In its new, bigger market, the newly named 76ers wasted little time winning a championship. With star center Wilt Chamberlain returning to Philadelphia with the Sixers, the team won the championship for the second time in 1967. Philadelphia missed the playoffs for the first time in 1972, but it wouldn’t be long until the club found itself back in postseason play. After three losses in the NBA Finals in six seasons, the Sixers won their third title in 1983 with superstars Julius “Doctor J” Irving and Moses Malone. Since the start of the 1990s Philadelphia hasn’t been a truly elite team. Allen Iverson got the Sixers to the Finals in 2001, but the team hasn’t been a consistent post-season threat since the 1980s. 2014 76ers Season Preview

The Sixers narrowly missed out on the postseason in the 2012-13 season, but with the addition of Nerlens Noel and the Pelicans first-round pick next year in exchange for Jrue Holiday, Philly may be back on top sooner rather than later. The team also added Darius Morris and Tony Wroten Jr., while picking up Michael Carter-Williams as the #11 overall pick of the draft. Evan Turner and Thaddeus Young will be two of the best players on this young team that is looking for the light at the end of the tunnel.

Philadelphia will play at the Verizon Center against Washington on opening night before coming back to Philly to take on the Bulls on Nov. 2 in its home opener. Other key home games will be vs. Houston on Nov. 13, vs. the Clippers on Dec. 9, and vs. the defending-champion Miami Heat on Jan 17.

These two teams have the most playoff meetings in the history of the NBA as they have met over 18 times in the postseason. With over 400 regular season matchups to go along with 90+ playoff games, there are not many secrets between the franchises. Stars such as Julius Erving, Bill Russell, Larry Bird, and Moses Malone have played in this tough, physical rivalry that still remains as one of the best in leagues history.

76ers vs. Pistons

This rivalry heightened in the mid-2000s with multiple playoff matchups that had viewers at the edge of their seats. During this time, the hostile environment created by the fans was tough to top. You never know what! You never know what a whole lot of guys can do on a basketball court. The 76ers can do jump shots from 15 feet away, from the three point line, just in time! Coach Collins has experience and a whole lot of compassion for his players. The owner even sits in the stands, thats great! You never know just how far this team can go!!!!!!!!!! March 2, 2012
