Portland Trail Blazers Tickets Information

The Portland Trail Blazers joined the NBA as an expansion team for the 1970-1971 season. For six seasons in Rip City things didn’t go so well for the ‘Blazers, posting losing season after losing season. The 1976-1977 season marked a turn in the franchise’s history. A pair of second-year players—Maurice Lucas and Bill Walton—not only led Portland to its first playoff appearance, but all the way to the franchise’s first NBA championship. From that season through the end of the 2002-2003 season the Trail Blazers were playing playoff basketball every year except for one. The next time Portland made a serious run for the championship after 1977 was the 1989-1990 season. Led by future Hall-of-Famer Clyde Drexler, Portland won a then-franchise best 59 regular season games on its way to an NBA Finals showdown with the Detroit Pistons, though they would lose to Detroit in five games. Drexler reached the Finals again in 1992, but this time Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls thwarted Portland’s goal of a second championship. Since 2003, the Trail Blazers have made the playoffs just three times. They have retired 12 numbers over the course of the franchise’s history. 2015 Trail Blazers Season Preview

The Portland Trail Blazers rebounded from an off year in 2012 and had an outstanding 2013-14 NBA season. The Trail Blazers won 54 games, and Portland made the NBA playoffs for the first time since 2011. Led by superstar LeMarcus Alderidge, Portland dismantled favored Houston in the first round of the playoffs earning the Trail Blazers their first playoff series victory since 2000.

When looking at the 2014-15 Portland Trail Blazers schedule, the question is whether or not the Blazers can take the next step and turn into one of the NBA Western Conference’s elite teams. Key acquisitions for the Trail Blazers in the offseason were Steve Blake and Chris Kamen, who add much needed playoff experience to a young Portland team. Still, the Portland Trail Blazers will only go as far as their star duo of Damien Lillard and LaMarcus Aldridge take them. Look for the Blazers to be a matchup that no one wants come playoff time.

Portland Trail Blazers Rivals

Trail Blazers vs. Lakers

The Trail Blazers and the Lakers have played an astonishing 45+ playoff games dating back to 1977 to go along with over 205 regular season games. The organizations have met three times in the Western Conference Finals that has only made this rivalry that much better. With Portland and Los Angeles both in the same conference, this match-up will only continue to get better in future seasons.

Trail Blazers vs. Thunder

This rivalry can be traced back to when the Thunder organization played in Seattle. The close proximity of the franchises led to a mutual hatred that still continues today even though both teams are not regionally close. The rivalry renewed in 2007 during the NBA Draft when the Trail Blazers selected Greg Oden over Kevin Durant with the first overall pick. Oden became an oft-injured center while Durant established himself as one of the best players in the league.

Trail Blazers vs. Jazz

The Trail Blazers and Jazz have been two of the more consistent teams in the Western Conference and find themselves both in the Northwest Division. In the 1990s, it was not uncommon for Portland and Utah to meet in the playoffs. Both franchises met four times during the decade that included a Trail Blazers victory in the 1992 Western Conference Finals.

Trail Blazers vs. Mavericks

These Western Conference foes have battled it out in the regular season over 135 times. The Trail Blazers and Mavericks have met multiple times in the playoffs over the years with both teams having equal success against one another in the postseason. Portland and Dallas will only continue to add to their rivalry in the upcoming seasons as both teams play in the same conference.

Trail Blazers in the NBA Finals, Western Conference Championships and NBA Playoffs

The Trail Blazers have an NBA championship to go along with multiple Western Conference titles on their resume that began in 1970. Portland has also added over 3 division titles throughout the years and will only see that number continue to increase in future seasons. Decorated players like Bill Walton and Clyde Drexler have worn the Trail Blazers uniform over the years.

Where are good places to eat before a Blazers game?

Portland has some of the best locally owned restaurants in the country. One of those local gems is Frank’s Noodles. Frank’s has some of the amazing Asian food to go along with a great atmosphere. If you are looking for a sports bar try Spirit of 77. This fun place is packed with TV’s, Portland sports fans, and they even have indoor bicycle parking. For an upscale experience try Torro Bravo. This place is perfect for foodies and will leave you talking about its food for weeks. If you are a seafood fan don’t miss checking out Jakes Famous Crawfish. Jakes has been a Portland landmark for over 100 years and is one of the top seafood destinations in the country. Portland also has some unbelievable food trucks. Of the dozens of great options we recommend trying La Jarochita, Tabor, or Pepper Box.

Where is the best place to park at Moda Center?

There are 4 large parking garages located to the north of the Moda Center. Parking typically begins 4 hours before game-time and the garages fill up quickly. We recommend getting to the game early or purchasing a parking pass. The East and West Garage’s are usually the best chance for finding parking close to the arena and are just north of Winning Way Drive. Offsite parking can be found at NE 7th and Holladay NE, and 7th and Multnomah in the Lloyd District. Most parking ranges from $6 to $13. MAX offers public transportation options with trains running about every 5 minutes before game-time.

Does my child need a ticket to go to a Blazers game?

Any child over 24 months old will need a ticket to enter the Moda Center. If your child is under 24 months old they may sit in a guardians lap for the duration of the game. We recommend bringing proof of the child’s age to ensure they are allowed to enter the arena.
