2011 BALTIMORE RAVENS PREVIEW:
The Baltimore Ravens have been to the playoffs for three consecutive years, and have seemingly been on the cusp of taking that next step and getting to the Super Bowl. This season may be the year, however, as quarterback Joe Flacco has one more year experience under his belt, and the Ravens typically tenacious defense will be back in full force.
The Ravens will have plenty of talent on offense to surround Flacco. Though criticized for not having a killer instinct, Flacco has one of the strongest arms in the league and is flanked by Anquan Boldin, who is certainly a reliable target, and the newly acquired Lee Evans. Running back Ray Rice emerged as a go-to player last season, and will be solid with Ricky Williams now giving him breathers.
Although the Ravens defense is very reliable, it will be their defense that gets them to the next level. Up front, Baltimore is led by linemen Terrence Cody and Haloti Ngata, both of whom strike fear into the heart of opposing quarterbacks. Ray Lewis still patrols the middle of the field and remains a force, as does safety Ed Reed–who is perhaps the best defensive back in the NFL when he is healthy.

The Baltimore Ravens play football in the North Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) of the National Football League (NFL). The franchise traces its roots back to the original Cleveland Browns team, which moved to Baltimore in 1996. The Browns name, however, had to legally stay in Cleveland where that franchise returned to the NFL in 1999. The Ravens are thus considered an expansion team. The team has always been considered tough on defense, and that toughness found its greatest success in 2000, when the Ravens won Super Bowl XXXV against the New York Giants led by star linebacker Ray Lewis, who is still considered the leader of the team.
The Baltimore Ravens play their home games at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland. The stadium opened in 1998 and holds just over 71,000 fans. Visitors to a Ravens game will be struck by the long history of football in Baltimore when they walk across Unitas Plaza and see the bronze statue of that iconic quarterback for the Baltimore Colts. Buy Baltimore Ravens tickets and see whether this defensive minded team can muster up the offense to get back to the Super Bowl!
