2009 Houston Texans Football Preview:
Houston Texans Head Coach Gary Kubiak has a lot of young talent that should make his 2009 team one to watch. On the defensive side the Texans are led by former top pick Mario Williams and stud linebacker DeMeco Ryans. On offense Houston wide receiver Andre Johnson is starting to be recognized as one of top players in the NFL. Quarterback Matt Schaub has Johnson and running back Steve Slaton who is entering his sophomore year in the league. Much of the Texans success in 2009 will depend on how the trio of Schaub, Slaton and Johnson play. If they live up to expectations, the Texans could be making noise in the AFC this season.

The Houston Texans play in the South Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The franchise was founded in 2002 as part of the NFL expansion that year that included the second coming of the Cleveland Browns. Houston's former team, the Oilers, moved to Nashville to become the Tennessee Titans in 1999. The Texans short history is similar to that of many expansion teams – they've struggled. They finally decided to let go of David Carr, the franchise's first and only QB through 2005, and began to start Matt Schaub in 2007, who has performed well.
