2011 HOUSTON TEXANS PREVIEW:
Ever since entering the league as an expansion team in 2002, the Houston Texans have seemingly been on the cusp of a breakout season year after year. Unfortunately for fans, the Texans have yet to reach the playoffs despite having some of the most explosive offensive players in the league. This year could be different; as Houston has bolstered its defense, the team looks poised to reach the post season for the first time.

The offense is led by quarterback Matt Schaub, who has emerged as one of the more reliable quarterbacks in the league. He is helped out considerably by having wide receiver Andre Johnson as his first option. Last year also saw the emergence of running back Arian Foster, who earned the league's rushing title with more than 1,600 yards on the ground.

While the offense will certainly be solid, the defense will need to improve dramatically from last year when it was one of the most porous in the NFL. Specifically, the Texans' pass defense was its weakest part, but they bolstered their secondary considerably by signing free agent cornerback Jonathan Joseph this offseason.

The Houston Texans play in the South Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The franchise was founded in 2002 as part of the NFL expansion that year that included the second coming of the Cleveland Browns. Houston's former team, the Oilers, moved to Nashville to become the Tennessee Titans in 1999. The Texans short history is similar to that of many expansion teams – they've struggled. They finally decided to let go of David Carr, the franchise's first and only QB through 2005, and began to start Matt Schaub in 2007, who has performed well. The Texans will look to make some big off-season moves and make the NFL world take note next season.

The Houston Texans play their home games at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas. The stadium is the first in the NFL with a retractable roof and seats a capacity crowd of 71,500. The Texans christened the stadium with their first regular season game there by defeating their new in-state rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, in an upset.
