2009 Kansas City Chiefs Early Football Preview:
The Kansas City Chiefs should easily surpass their win total from 2008, when the young team finished the season with a 2-14 record. The 2009 Chiefs look like a radically different team if only because they have a new face of the franchise in quarterback Matt Cassel. Cassel follows his former Pats GM to KC to try jumpstart a Chiefs franchise that has been idling the last couple of years. Cassel will be joined on the offense by young, talented WR Dwayne Bowe and trio of running backs that include Larry Johnson and Jamal Charles. The Kansas City defense could be stingy with players like Glenn Dorsey and Derrick Johnson. With all of those good things happening, you can't blame KC fans if they start dreaming of an Cardinals-type season.
2008 Kansas City Chiefs Football Preview:
The Kansas City Chiefs are always one of the toughest and most unpredictable teams in the NFL. Following the tragic loss of the team's longtime owner Lamar Hunt, the team has found itself in some turmoil, sending quarterback Trent Green to Miami and dealing with various injuries to starting players. The Kansas City Chiefs, however, appear to be improving every year. With one Super Bowl and 3 AFL Championships to the team's credit, the Kansas City Chiefs will fight to return to their past glory days. Arrowhead Stadium has long been one of the premier venues to see old school NFL football, and this season is no different.
With some fresh new faces (and fresh new talent), this Kansas City Chiefs team is going to see some significant improvement over the next few years. True, they will need some time to build trust and experience among new players, but it will certainly pay off in the end. The Chiefs are going to need quarterback Brodie Croyle to really step up and produce this season, if they want to keep the ball moving downfield. Some notable new faces to watch are: cornerback Brandon Flowers from Virginia Tech and third-round running back Jamaal Charles from of Texas. Though this season may not be a playoff season for the Chiefs, it will be exciting nonetheless to watch new players growing with a truly tremendous team.
