2011 NEW YORK JETS PREVIEW:
Few coaches have been as boisterous as the New York Jets' Rex Ryan. However, he has backed up the talk and lead Gang Green to back-to-back AFC Championship games. With some new faces in key roles this year, it would surprise no one if the Jets get back there and break through to the Super Bowl.
Mark Sanchez is entering his third year as the Jets starter and should be ready to take off. He will have a litany of talent surrounding him, including wide receiver Santonio Holmes, who is as big a difference-maker as anybody in the league. Also signed recently was Plaxico Burress who, though he has been out of football, could be a huge target for Sanchez. Running backs Shonn Greene and LaDainian Tomlinson also return, and should be solid options for the ground game.
Though the offense was solid the last two seasons, the strength of the Jets under Ryan has always been defense. They have some of the best defensive backs in the league, led by shutdown corners Darelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie. Linebacker Bart Scott is the vocal leader of the squad, and will be back in force this year.

The New York Jets play football in the East Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) of the National Football League (NFL). The Jets franchise was founded in 1960 as the New York Titans. The team was renamed after the Jet planes landing at LaGuardia Airport next to the Jets home field at Shea Stadium. Joe Namath would help lead the Jets to its only Super Bowl (retroactively called Super Bowl III). The Jets have been regular visitors to the postseason, but never managed much success there.
