2011 OAKLAND RAIDERS PREVIEW:
The Oakland Raiders had one of the strangest seasons in NFL history last year, going 6-0 in their own division yet failing to make the playoffs. Even still, Oakland improved dramatically relative to their performance through much of the last decade, and appears poised to return to the post season for the first time since 2002.
The biggest difference in the Oakland offense was the emergence of Jason Campbell as a reliable quarterback. If the former Redskin can once again hold his own, the rest of the offense should fall in place. Last season also saw a breakout year for running back Darren McFadden, who rushed for over 1,100 yards. Wide receiver Jacoby Ford should be a reliable target for Campbell as well.
As for the defense, the Raiders will have to replace one of the best defensive backs in the league after Nnamdi Asomugha left due to free agency. Still, they have some young talent on that side of the ball, highlighted primarily by linebacker Rolando McClain, who had a standout rookie year in 2010.

The Oakland Raiders play football in the West Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The Raider franchise was founded in Oakland in 1960 as part of that year' NFL expansion, which included the Minnesota Vikings. Al Davis has led the team as coach, owner, president, and/or GM for most of the franchise' history and brought the team to prominence in the late 1970' and early '80s, when they won 3 Super Bowls. Al Davis has also become an eccentric icon in the NFL and perfect compliment to the eccentric fans you'll se at a Raiders home game.
