One of the biggest threats today in the National Football Conference of the National Football League is arguably the Dallas Cowboys. This franchise, which was established in 1960, has made 30 playoff appearances and continues to be stiff competition for the rest of the league.

The Dallas Cowboys have an extensive history in the postseason. Their latest came in 2010 when they faced the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC Divisional game, only to lose 34-3. However, Dallas has made 30 playoff appearances since debuting in the NFL. The team has won five Super Bowls throughout its history. Its most recent win came in 1995 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Cowboys have a number of former players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Most notably, these individuals include Tony Dorsett, Bob Hayes and Emmitt Smith.

From their five Super Bowl appearances, the Cowboys also have seven individuals who earned the Most Valuable Player award, including Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith.

Dallas' most recent playoff appearance occurred in 2009 when they beat the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round before falling to the Minnesota Vikings in the conference semifinals. The team has won their division 21 times since entering the NFL. Today, the Cowboys belong to the NFC East division, alongside the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants and Washington Redskins.
