Since debuting as the Kansas City Chiefs in 1963, the franchise has become one of the most notable National Football League teams in the Midwest.
The Chiefs have made 15 appearances in the playoffs, their most recent one coming in 2010. Although Kansas City has an overall postseason record of 7-14, they won a Super Bowl in 1969. The Chiefs were originally known as the Dallas Texans from 1960 until 1963. Since entering the NFL, the franchise has won seven division titles. Their latest win came in 2010 before moving ahead to the postseason.
Kansas City played the Indianapolis Colts in the 2010 Wild Card game, only to lose 23-8. However, the Chiefs continue to bring in talented players that are helping them build a roster full of depth and talent.
The franchise has a number of former players who have been enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including Warren Moon, Joe Montana and Marcus Allen. Kansas City has also retired a handful of numbers, including 86, 18 and 78. Most notably, 18 belonged to cornerback Emmitt Thomas, who was also enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
