Since debuting in 1925, the New York Giants have been one of the most winning franchises in the history of the National Football League. New York last made the postseason in 2008, but is familiar with the playoffs, being one of the few franchises to make more than a dozen appearances. The Giants made it to the NFC Divisional Championship game in 2008, but lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, 23-11.
A number of players have been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame after participating with the franchise, such as Pete Henry, Lawrence Taylor and Steve Owen. The Giants have also retired a series of numbers, including 42, 50 and 56, which belonged to Taylor.
The latest player to win the Most Valuable Player award in the Super Bowl with the organization is Eli Manning, who received the honor in 2007. Today, the Giants still remain a threat in the NFC East to their division rivals.
