2013 Jets Season Preview

After a few years of disappointment, Jets fans have something to be excited for this season. All-Star Darrelle Revis is now in Tampa Bay, tight end Dustin Keller is in Miami, and running back Shonn Greene is in Tennessee, but there are new faces that should bring smiles to the Jets faithful. Chris Ivory was acquired from the New Orleans Saints and will take over as the lead running back. The NFL Draft landed the Jets Alabama corner back Dee Milliner and West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith. With an inspired quarterback competition between Smith and incumbent Mark Sanchez that should bring out the best in both of them, the Jets may just shock the NFL with a successful 2013 season.

2011 Playoff Preview: New York Jets
Regular Season Record:
11-5
Seed: 6, AFC
2010 Team Leaders: Passing: Mark Sanchez (3291 YDS, 9th AFC); Rushing: LaDanian Tomlinson (914 YDS, 12th AFC); Receiving: Braylon Edwards (904 YDS, 3rd AFC)

Between the AFC Championship game run last season, which begat their appearance on HBO’s Hard Knocks and a lot of talk from their coach Rex Ryan, the Jets began the season as the highest profile team in the NFL. But a disappointing defense and an up-and-down season from second year QB Mark Sanchez has left the team short of their AFC East-title goal. So they go into the playoffs as the Wild Card and will likely depend on their resurgent running game and defensive front to control the tempo against pass-heavy teams like the Indianapolis Colts.

2011 NEW YORK JETS PREVIEW:
Few coaches have been as boisterous as the New York Jets' Rex Ryan. However, he has backed up the talk and lead Gang Green to back-to-back AFC Championship games. With some new faces in key roles this year, it would surprise no one if the Jets get back there and break through to the Super Bowl.

Mark Sanchez is entering his third year as the Jets starter and should be ready to take off. He will have a litany of talent surrounding him, including wide receiver Santonio Holmes, who is as big a difference-maker as anybody in the league. Also signed recently was Plaxico Burress who, though he has been out of football, could be a huge target for Sanchez. Running backs Shonn Greene and LaDainian Tomlinson also return, and should be solid options for the ground game.

Though the offense was solid the last two seasons, the strength of the Jets under Ryan has always been defense. They have some of the best defensive backs in the league, led by shutdown corners Darelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie. Linebacker Bart Scott is the vocal leader of the squad, and will be back in force this year.

2010 New York Jets Football Preview:

The Jets had the best rushing offense in the league last year, running for an impressive 172.3 yard per game. Although Thomas Jones was released in the offesason, New York still has a talented stable of running backs including Shonn Greene, LaDainian Tomlinson and rookie Joe McKnight. Second-year quarterback Mark Sanchez had a decent rookie season in 2009, but he will need to cut down on his interceptions, as he threw 20 to just 12 touchdowns last year.

The New York Jets defense was among the best in the league last season, especially against the pass. While they're expected to be good again this year, they are in contract disputes with standout cornerback Darrelle Revis and his status is uncertain. However, the secondary added former San Diego Charger Antonio Cromartie, who should provide a solid coverage on the right side.

2009 New York Jets Football Preview:
2009 will be a transition season for the New York Jets. Gone are 2008 quarterback Brett Favre and Coach Eric Mangini. In are former backup QB Kellen Clemens and new Head Coach Rex Ryan. Ryan comes to the Jets from the Baltimore Ravens, where he fielded one of the most intimidating defenses in the NFL. Ryan also went and recruited one of the top players from that Ravens defense, linebacker Bart Scott, who joins the Jets in 2009. With Ryan's leadership, Scott and company should be one of the most improved defenses in the entire AFC. On offense Clemens will take the reins with the hopes that he can improve upon the nice season that Favre had in '08. If Ryan's defense and Clemens' offense are firing on all cylinders, then the AFC East might decide which AFC team makes the Super Bowl.

2008 New York Jets Football Preview:
The New York Jets put together a disappointing season in 2007. There's no other way to describe it, but there are bright spots for next year. With Chad Pennington's shoulder surgery making his arm nearly ineffective, the Jets had to rely on undrafted backup Kellen Clemens to lead the team. Clemens has had his work cut out for him and has had to compete in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL, the AFC East, which includes the Patriots and Colts - probably the two best teams in the AFC. This coming season will be an exciting year for Jets fans to see what the future of their team holds after the draft and off-season trades try to shore up the team's weaknesses. Will Clemens develop into a solid passer or will the Jets find another QB to lead the team? Jets fans will voice their notoriously loud opinions on the matter at Giants Stadium come this season.

After a surprise run to the AFC Championship game last season, the New York Jets are a popular pick to return to the playoffs this year, and some are selecting them to advance to the Super Bowl. Charistmatic coach Rex Ryan has added a number of talented parts in the offseason and it's not outside the realm of possibility that the team will live up to the hype.
