2011 CHICAGO BEARS PREVIEW:
The Chicago Bears surprised some people by clinching the number two seed in the NFC last season, en route to earning a place in the conference championship game. Though they fell just short of the Super Bowl, expectations are high for the Bears this season, as they return a talented quarterback in Jay Cutler and a passionate coach in Lovie Smith.
Despite criticism for his decision making, Cutler has emerged as one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL. The biggest question about his production is whether he will have the talent surrounding him, and this year may finally have it. Matt Forte and Marion Barber will anchor the backfield, while the receiving corps will be helped considerably by the addition of former Cowboys Sam Hurd and Roy Williams. If the offensive line can reduce its league-leading 52 sacks allowed, there's no reason why Cutler can't surpass last year’s accomplishments.
Defense has long been the Bears' strength, and fans should expect that to be the case again this year. Julius Peppers and Vernon Gholston will lead the way on the defensive line, with the secondary paced by veteran Charles Tillman, who has become one of the best cornerbacks in the league.

The Chicago Bears play football in the North Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The Bears franchise, along with the Arizona Cardinals, is one of only two charter members of the NFL left in existence. The Bears began in 1919 as the Decatur, Illinois Staleys, a company football team, but then moved to Chicago and began professional play in 1921. The Bears rivalry with the Green Bay Packers is one of the oldest and most celebrated in the league. A Chicago-Green bay game is an experience any football fan will cherish. The Bears celebrate one Super Bowl title and 8 NFL (pre-merger) Championships. The team is always known for its toughness and defensive tenacity and this coming season should be no different.
The Chicago Bears play their home games at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois. The stadium was renovated and expanded in 2003, and while it kept its Greco-Roman Doric columns, the stands were replaced with a sweeping modern steel and glass structure giving it the nickname "the Spaceship on Soldier Field". Located in downtown Chicago and providing breathtaking views of Lake Michigan and the city skyline, a game at Soldier Field is an awe inspiring experience on many levels.
