Washington Redskins Season Preview History

2010 Washington Redskins Football Preview:
Fans of the Washington Redskins are eager to return to the team's glory days of the 1980s, but a 4-12 season last year prolonged their recent string of disappointing seasons. Mike Shanahan replaces the fired Jim Zorn as head coach, but it will be hard for the former Broncos leader to navigate a difficult schedule, and the post season may be a long shot.

The coaching switch wasn't the only change made during the offseason - the offense got a few new additions as well. Longtime Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was traded to the Redskins and is expected to be a marked improvement over Jason Campbell, who was dealt to the Oakland Raiders. McNabb has a pair of talented receivers in Santana Moss and Chris Cooley - both should be reliable targets. Washington also needs to improve its running game, which ranked 27th in the league last season. They have a trio of talented running backs including Clinton Portis, Larry Johnson and Willie Parker, but their best days may be behind the aging veterans.

After becoming the highest paid defensive player in the league, defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth had trouble staying healthy at training camp and his starting job is in doubt heading into the regular season. Although Haynesworth has been unreliable, the Redskins have a solid linebacking corps with London Fletcher and Brian Orakpo.

2009 Washington Redskins Football Preview:
The Washington Redskins have been a continual thrill ride under owner Daniel Synder, and the 2009 season should be no exception. Head Coach Jim Zorn returns to lead a very talented group of players. The big new addition for the Skins is Pro Bowl defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth. Haynesworth was one of the top players in the NFL in 2008 and will immediately make the Redskins defense tougher. Joining him are Washington defenders London Fletcher and Fred Smoot. If the defensive talent gels, they could be scary good in 2009. On offense Jason Campbell is leading the charge along with running back Clinton Portis and wide receiver Santana Moss. Synder has once again spent big on his Washington Redskins, but it looks like 2009 could be the year that he gets a huge return on his investment. If the Skins play up to their potential they could be headed to the Super bowl in Miami.

2008 Washington Redskins Football Preview:
The Washington Redskins will be an interesting team to watch this coming season. They have had a disappointing year in 2007, especially on the defensive end of the ball, dropping from 7th in the league to 29th on defense in one year. They do have some important bright spots such as the advent of Jason Campbell as the starting quarterback in Washington. Campbell looks to be a franchise prospect in the coming seasons as he matures and improves. Redskins fans will voice their opinions about the teams failures but will also fill FedEx Field to support the Skins in their quest for a playoff berth in 2008.
