New York Jets 4.8 5 13 13
The New Meadowlands, a true home for Gang Green. To complete my journey to all 31 active NFL home stadiums, I have to be sure to visit the newly constructed venues when they open. With this in mind, I’ve scheduled two appearances to the New Meadowlands Stadium located in Eat Rutherford, New Jersey, so I can attend both a New York Jets and a New York Giants game there. Before the build of this behemoth monstrosity, both the Jets and Giants shared Giants Stadium, but it was hardly a home to Jets fans. With another team’s name on the building, it felt more like a rental unit that their team used from time to time. In an effort to combat this, designers of New Meadowlands Stadium took great care to develop a facility that could be transformed in appearance with the color scheme and logos of the home team. This is achieved through a variety of innovative solutions including flat screen video boards and towers, an impressive exterior stadium lighting scheme that can appear green in color for Jets home games and blue when the Giants take the field, and finally though louvered signage that can take on the Jets or Giants logos. The conversion truly creates an atmosphere that allows both Jets and Giants fans to lay claim to the facility on game day. I was in town for Monday Night Football and the atmosphere inside New Meadowlands Stadium was electric. Brett Favre was back in town on the heels of his recent controversy and Randy Moss made his first appearance in a Vikings uniform since leaving Minneapolis. A defensive struggle at first, the Jets took a tenuous 9-0 lead into the half. In the second half, Brett Favre and the Vikings stormed back with solid touchdown drives to challenge the Jets lead, but in the end after a costly Pick-6 by Favre, the New York Jets weathered the storm to post an impressive win over the Vikings. Excellent game, great tailgating, I look forward to my return trip. A great experience! We took a bus from NYC to the Meadowlands Stadium with ease. Although the stadium was smaller then we thought it is a beautiful stadium. I think the players coming onto the field was my favorite part for it was such a big production. Nice time had by all! January 4, 2011

The New York Jets have not only been a competitive organization in the AFC East, but in the National Football League as a whole throughout the years. The franchise is not only known for bringing in some of the most talented players in the game, but for leading as a winning team.

The Jets have made 14 appearances in the postseason, their latest one coming in 2010. The team made it to the AFC Championship game, only to lose to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 24-19. However, New York consecutively made the playoffs in both 2009 and 2010.

The franchise has won one championship throughout its history, Super Bowl III in 1969. New York also has four division championships under their belt and a number of former players have made it into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

One of the most notable players inducted is Joe Namath, who played as quarterback for the Jets. The organization has also retired his number, 12.

Although the Jets play in a tough division, including the Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills, they continue to prove themselves as a real contender in the NFL.
