The Chargers began their history as a professional football team in Los Angeles playing in the AFL. After three years in Los Angeles, the Chargers moved to San Diego and in 1970 joined the NFL. Unlike most franchises, the Chargers were immediately a force to be reckoned with on the playing field, posting a losing record just once, making the playoffs five times and winning the division four times in the team’s first decade. San Diego experienced its next burst of success when Dan Coryell was named the head coach. In his first full season in 1979, Coryell implemented a pass-happy offense that led the Chargers to three straight AFC West division titles. San Diego had a similar short stint of success when Bobby Ross was hired in 1992, but didn’t sustained success until the mid and late 2000s. The Chargers made the playoffs five times and won three division titles from 2004 to 2009. San Diego has retired just two numbers—Dan Fouts’ No. 14 and Lance Alworth’s No. 19. 2014 Chargers Season Preview
The Chargers fell just short of the playoffs last season, going 9-7 after starting the season 5-7. San Diego won the last four of the season, including over the AFC Champion Denver Broncos. Philip Rivers had the best season of his career, and he’ll be at the helm of a largely unchanged team in 2014. The Chargers lost all but one game by one score or less, so they’re really close to being a team with a top seed in the AFC playoffs. The team did pick up CB Brandon Flowers and RB Donald Brown, as well as draft picks CB Jason Verrett and DE Jeremiah Attaochu to help close the gap between them and the Broncos and Chiefs. The Chargers open the season in Arizona before coming home to host the Super Bowl champion Seahawks in Week 2. San Diego will also see the Jets and Jaguars come into Qualcomm early in the season, while taking road trips to Oakland and Denver in October. It’ll be a tough end of the season, as both the Patriots and Broncos will be in San Diego for Weeks 14 and 15, then they’ll end the year with two road games in San Francisco and Kansas City.

Gig'em Bolts I loved the tix! Thank you TC!!!! September 10, 2010
Chargers Rock! Going to a game at Qualcomm Stadium is definitely one of the most fun experiences I have ever had. I've been many times, but the game when I bought tickets from TicketCity was a truly memorable experience. Everything went very smoothly, which of course makes the experience of going to a game that much better. It also helps when the home team (the Chargers) beat their arch-rival--The Raiders--by 27 points on my birthday. It's pretty tough to beat that. August 10, 2010
