Eight teams remain in the hunt for the Cup but not the eight teams many expected to advance. Besides both number one seeds and the #4 Bruins no top seeded teams advanced to the conference semifinals. NHL Playoff Tickets Though the first round was full of upsets across the board there was no surprise as the #1 Penguins and #1 Blackhawks maneuvered their way into the second round. Outside of the Bruins it was the year of the lower seed as the number 2 and 3 seeds in both conferences were eliminated.

The New York Rangers clawed their way to the top of the Eastern Conferences stacked Atlantic Division and took home the #6 seed landing them a spot with the Washington Capitals in the first round of the NHL Playoffs. With a slew of talent sitting atop the West bracket, they'll need Rick Nash, Brad Richards and Co. to play on another level to survive in this year's playoffs.
