We're off and running early in the NHL season, and the San Jose Sharks have the best record in hockey early on. Nipping at their heels is Anaheim, only one point behind them. Colorado has gotten off to a great start and leads the Pacific Division after coming in dead last in the Western Conference a year ago.
In the East, Detroit, Toronto and Pittsburgh are back on top of the standings. The Flyers have had the toughest start to the season, winning only one game out of eight and sitting in last place. They have a lot of work to do, but we still have most of the NHL season to play out as we see if the Blackhawks can defend their Stanley Cup title.
The Chicago Blackhawks made history in 2013 finishing the regular season with only 7 loss' and going on to win the Stanley Cup for the second time in three years.
With a skill department sporting the likes of Toews, Kane, Hossa, Keith, and Sharp one can only expect to see the Blackhawks back in the race in 2014.
