DALLAS STARS POSTSEASON
The Minnesota North Stars moved to Dallas in 1993, hit the ground running in their new home and brought the excitement of playoff hockey to Texas. The Dallas Stars have made the playoffs 12 times, won seven division championships, two President's Trophies and brought home the Stanley Cup in 1999.
The Stars have sent three men to the Hall of Fame, including Brett Hull, Ed Belfour and Joe Nieuwendyk. All three would play an important role in the Stars' title run and created a solid foundation of playoff success that future teams can emulate.
The Stars were the best team in the NHL during the 1998-99 season with a 51-19-12 record. With the exceptional play of Mike Modano behind the puck and Eddie Belfour in the net, the Stars made quick work of the Edmonton Oilers, St. Louis Blues and Colorado Avalanche before advancing to the Stanley Cup Finals against the Buffalo Sabres. The Stars received a stroke of luck in the third overtime of Game 7, when Brett Hull snuck a puck into the crease of the net to give the Stars their only championship.
The Western Conference has become exceptionally competitive in recent years, but the Dallas Stars always seem to be in the thick of the Stanley Cup playoff race.
