The Montreal Canadiens are arguably the most accomplished NHL franchise in the history of the league. Established in 1909, the Canadiens are the longest continuously operating professional hockey team and they are the only existing NHL team that predates the founding of the league. The accolades continue for the Canadiens as they have won the Stanley Cup more times than any other franchise in the NHL with 24. Montreal has also won 8 conference championships and 22 division titles. However, with all the success the Canadiens have had, they have not won a Stanley Cup titles since the 1992-1993 season. Montreal has retired 15 numbers in honor of 17 players over the years which is one of the highest totals in professional sports. All-time greats like Maurice "The Rocket" Richard and Guy Lafleur have skated for the Canadiens. Score with TicketCity - the place to go for Montreal Canadiens hockey tickets.

2015 Canadiens Season Preview

In just two seasons the Montreal Canadiens have gone from last place in the Eastern Conference, to the Eastern Conference Finals. Last season the Canadiens finished the season 46-28-8 and had a playoff run that included a come from behind 7 game series victory over the heavily favored Boston Bruins. Montreal’s season ended 2 games shy of an Eastern Conference Championship and a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals.

For 2014, the Canadiens have seen a few of their veteran players leave. Captain Brian Gionta is gone, as are team leaders Josh Gorges, and Daniel Briere. But the buzz around the Canadiens is still positive as the team moves many of its incredibly talented young players into leadership roles. The 2014 Montreal Canadiens team will be heavy on young players, but look for the veteran additions of Manny Malhortra and Tom Gilbert to add some much needed experience and for them to mentor emerging talent like Brendan Gallagher, and Alex Galchenyuk. The Canadiens had a terrific run in 2013 and have a great chance to make a repeat trip to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2014.

Montreal Canadiens Rivals

Canadiens vs. Maple Leafs

The Maple Leafs and Canadiens faced each other 15 times in the postseasonover a 30-year span, meeting in the Stanley Cup Finals five times These two teams are hockey royalty. The Canadiens and Leafs are #1 and #2 on all-time NHL championships with a combined 37 titles. There no language barrier between the two fan bases anymore, which may be a bad thing with the bad blood between the two.

Canadiens vs. Bruins

Known as one of the greatest rivalries in all of sports, the Bruins and Canadiens are two of the truly great franchises in hockey history. The Canadiens have the edge over the Bruins in the astounding 850+ times the two clubs have played each other since their first match up in 1924. While there’s a border between the two cities, not much separates them on the ice when they meet.

Canadiens vs. Rangers

Two of the “original six”, the Canadiens and Rangers have plenty of history between them. One moment changed hockey forever as a Habs goaltender took a puck to the face and later came back into the game with a mask on – which had never happened before in the NFL. Because of conference alignments the two have only met in the Stanley Cup in 1979, with the Canadiens being triumphant in five games.

Montreal Canadiens in the Stanley Cup, Eastern Conference Championship, and NHL Playoffs

The Montreal Canadiens are the class of the NHL, simple and plain. Success runs in the blood of the Canadiens and their NHL leading 24 Stanley Cup Championships certainly support the notion. Not only are their 24 Stanley Cups the most in NHL history, but the lead the league in Conference Championships with 35 and playoff appearances with 83.

Montreal Canadiens Event Guide

What time do gates open prior to a Canadiens game?

Gates at Bell Centre typically open 90 minutes before game time. One of the Original Six NHL teams, the Canadiens have won more Stanley Cup finals than any team in the NHL and it will take you almost the full 90 minutes to finish counting all of the banners they have hanging from their rafters.

Where are good places to eat before a Canadiens game?

Montreal has some of the best French food in North America. Of the dozens of amazing places we like Decca 77. It is a little pricey but the food is definitely worth it and it is right next to Bell Centre. If you are a pizza lover don’t miss trying Arlequino as they have some of the best crust you will find in Canada. For a more hearty pre-game meal try the ribs at Baton Rouge Restaurant & Bar. If you are looking for a great sports bar try La Cage Aux Sports, Bar Champs, or Station Des Sports.

Where is the best place to park at Bell Centre?

The Bell Centre has a large parking area located in front of the arena. These spots usually fill up quickly so we recommend getting there early to secure a spot. There are also numerous street parking options in the area that are usually cheap and not too far of a walk from the arena. Also many of the hotels located near Bell Centre offer paid parking during events and are well lit and safe. The Lucien-L'Allier metro station is only a short walk to the arena and offers a quick and easy way to avoid parking and traffic all together.

Does my child need a ticket to go to a Canadiens game?

If your child is 2 years old or older they will require a ticket to enter Bell Centre. All children under 2 years old will be allowed to sit on a guardians lap for the duration of the game. Don’t forget to bring proof of your child’s age to avoid any last minute hassles at the door.
