Florida Panthers 2011-2012 Season Preview:
In anticipation of the 2011-12 season, the Panthers hope to change their luck with a number of notable changes including hiring retired Canadian player Kevin Dineen as head coach, signing and trading for a number of new players such as Brian Campbell and Kris Versteeg, and reintroducing the color red to the team's home jerseys.
The Panthers begin their season away against the New York Islanders on October 8. Their first home game at BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida will be held October 15 against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Florida Panthers play hockey in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The team first played as an expansion team in Miami, Florida in 1993. The team had one of the most successful first seasons of any expansion team in history. In 1996 the Florida Panthers would even reach the Stanley Cup Finals as the #4 seed in the Eastern Conference, only to be swept by Colorado. The team has struggled since starting 17-0 the following season. The acquisition of Pavel Bure briefly infused some success for the team, and the Panthers also moved to the BankAtlantic Center in Ft. Lauderdale, but the team has since fallen in the standings. This could be the Florida Panthers' turnaround season.
