New York Rangers Season Preview History
New York Rangers 2011-2012 Season Preview:
In the 2010-11 regular season, the Rangers squeezed their way into the Stanley Cup playoffs and nabbed the eighth seed. Although New York lost in the quarterfinals against the Washington Capitals, they plan to make another run for the cup in the 2011-12 season.
The Rangers have a number of talented players that make them a real threat in the Eastern Conference. Ryan Callahan will be the 2011 Captain, the first Ranger-bred talent to be so since Brian Leetch. Michael Rupp, Ruslan Fedotenko and Sean Avery will contribute veteran experience to the team in 2011-12 that is hard to rival by other teams in the NHL.
In net, the Rangers also have two veteran goaltenders that are arguably two of the best in the league. Henrik Lundqvist and Martin Biron both have an ample amount of experience that is sure to make this New York team a competitor for the Stanley Cup.
New York Rangers 2010-2011 NHL Preview:
The New York Rangers missed out on the playoffs for the first time since 2003 last season, edged out by the Montreal Canadiens. Rangers fans will be expecting a return to the postseason this year, and there is reason to believe that they may make it to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since they took home the cup in 1994.
The offense will be centered around the team's captain, Chris Drury. The veteran forward brings steady leadership to the team's front line, and will be joined by right wing Marian Gaborik, who lead the team in both goals and assists last season, with 42 and 44, respectively. A lot will be expected from Sean Avery, Ryan Callahan and Vaclav Prospal to keep the offense running smoothly.
The defense has a great deal of potential with a solid combination of established talent and young stars, including second-year man Michael Del Zotto. The Rangers should be in good hands between the pipes, as they will be relying on goaltender Henrik Lundqvist once again. Lundqvist had a solid year last season after he boasted an impressive .921 save percentage.
New York Rangers 2009-2010 NHL Preview:
The New York Rangers should bring some excitement to the Big Apple during the 2009-2010 hockey season. That is because the NY Rangers are one of the best teams in the NHL and could go far in the 2010 NHL playoffs. New York will count on stars Henrik Lundqvist and Marina Gaborik to lead the charge as the Rangers try to match the great seasons of the Yankees, Jets and Giants. Expect big things from the New York Rangers in this year.
