The Ottawa Senators are relatively new in terms of the other franchises in the NHL, but they have been successful in their short existence. The Senators began play in 1992 and made their first postseason appearance during the 1996-1997 season. Since that time, Ottawa has only missed the playoffs twice. To go along with that impressive streak, the Senators have won the division four times. This stretch was also highlighted by their first Stanley Cup appearance that occurred during the 2006-2007 season. The Senators also have one Presidents’ Trophy on their resume which happened during the 2002-2003 season. Even though the Senators have not won a Stanley Cup in their 20+ year existence, their consistent success on the ice has resulted in a strong following. The average attendance is often one of the highest in the NHL on a yearly basis. Score with TicketCity - the place to go for Ottawa Senators hockey tickets.
2014 Senators Season Preview
The 2013 Ottawa Senators took a step back from their 2012 trip to the Eastern Conference Semi-finals. The Senators finished the season 37-31 and 5 points out of the final playoff spot in the East. It was only the 3rd time since 1997 that Ottawa did not participate in the NHL playoffs.
The biggest questions looming over the Senators heads in 2014 are on the defensive end. Last season Ottawa was one of the worst defensive teams in the NHL. The Senators will also have to deal with the loss of Captain Jason Spezza who was traded before the start of the season. But there are some reasons to be hopeful for Ottawa Senators fans. Erik Karlsson looks to have a career season in 2014 and will team up with forward Bobby Ryan to control the Senators scoring attack. Also look for talented, but young goaltender Robin Lehner to push for the Senators starting goaltender position. Overall the Ottawa Senators have the pieces in place to be a playoff team, whether they put it together or not is yet to be decided.

Senators vs. Maple Leafs
It’s known as the Battle of Ontario and it’s one of the best rivalries in the NHL. When these two come together for the six games a season they play, the eyes of everyone in Ontario is watching. While Toronto holds the all-time lead in the 20+ playoff series the two have engaged in, this rivalry is still as big in the minds of the fans as it ever has been.
