Pittsburgh Penguins Tickets Information

The Pittsburgh Penguins have quickly established themselves as one of the premier franchises since the organization became in existence in 1967. The Penguins were apart of the first expansion by the NHL to add six teams to the six that were already in the league. Pittsburgh has won three Stanley Cup championships, highlighted by the back-to-back titles in the 1990-1991 and 1991-1992 seasons. The Penguins have also added four conference championships and seven division titles to help distinguish them from the rest of the NHL. Pittsburgh earned the Presidents’ Trophy during the 1992-1993 season for finishing the season with the most points in the league. The Penguins have had iconic players like Mario Lemieux skate for the organization with current star Sidney Crosby wearing a Penguins uniform. 2014 Penguins Season Preview

The Pittsburgh Penguins had an up and down season in 2013-14. The Penguins went 51-24-7 in the regular season, and finished atop the very good NHL Metropolitan Division. Pittsburgh then proceeded to cruise through the Eastern Conference quarterfinals, and took a commanding 3-1 lead over the New York Rangers in the NHL 2014 Eastern Conference semifinals. But then the unthinkable happened. The Rangers rallied to win 3 in a row, including a 2-1 victory in game 7 at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.

Coming into the 2014-15 season, the poor ending to last season still clouds over team. But the Penguins have a new coach in Mike Johnston and a fresh commitment to getting back to the Stanley Cup Finals. The Penguins lines will have 3 key new faces in Christian Ehrhoff, Blake Comeau, and Patric Hornqvist. As always the ceiling to the Penguins season will fall largely on the shoulders of superstar Sidney Crosby along with Evgeni Malkin. The Pittsburgh Penguins are one of the few teams in the Eastern Conference that has the talent and experience to compete with the number of solid teams out west. With Sidney Crosby on the roster, the Penguins will continue to be a threat to win the Eastern Conference and maybe even the Stanley Cup Finals in 2014-15.

Pittsburgh Penguins Rivals

Penguins vs. Flyers

This rivalry keeps on getting stronger as the Penguins and Flyers continually find themselves pitted against each other in ugly matchups in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Between brawls on the ice and shouting matches between opposing coaches, it’s no wonder fans pack the house at both the Consol Energy Center and Wells Fargo Center to get up close for this one.

Penguins vs. Capitals

This rivalry has blossomed over the years, long before Ovechkin vs. Crosby or any of the other young guns took over. The Pens knocked the Caps out of the playoffs in 1991 on the way to their first Stanley Cup Championship, and knocked them out again on the way to the repeat. There’s no love lost here, and with memorable games between them like the 2011 Winter Classic this rivalry won’t fizzle out any time soon.

Pittsburgh Penguins in the Stanley Cup, Eastern Conference Championship, and NHL Playoffs

Playing their home games at the “Igloo”, hence the nickname Penguins, Pittsburgh has won an impressive three Stanley Cups in their team’s history and won four Eastern Conference Championships. The Pittsburgh Penguins have made 27 playoff appearances including 7 straight.

Pittsburgh Penguins Event Guide

What time do gates open prior to a Penguins game?

Doors open 1-hour before the puck drops at Consol Energy Center.

Where are good places to eat before a Penguins game?

One of the best places to eat before a Pen’s game is Uncle Sam’s Sandwich Bar. Sam’s has great sandwiches, even better fries, and is one of the local favorites. Another good option is The Capital Grille. Capital Grille is a higher end place but they still allow you to come in with your Penguins jersey and enjoy their amazing menu. If you want a place that is close enough to walk to, try Bigelow Grille. Bigelow is only a short walk from Consol Energy Center and normally has great specials for game-days. Other great options are Buckhead Saloon, Jerome Bettis Grille 36, and Rivertowne North Shore.

Where is the best place to park at Consol Energy Center?

There are four large parking areas located directly north of the arena and one parking garage attached to the east side of Consol Energy Center. The three largest lots are located just south of Bedford Ave. and usually run between $5.75 and $8.00. There is plenty of additional city parking but will require a slightly longer walk. We recommend trying just west of Highway 579 as there are a couple of good places in that area.

Does my child need a ticket to go to a Penguins game?

Any child under the age of 2 years old will be allowed to enter without a ticket. They will have to sit on a guardians lap for the duration of the game and we recommend bringing proof of their age to the gate to ensure they are allowed to enter the arena.

Awesome Site! I wanted to go to the last regulation Penguins game, and two days before the game I decided to look for tickets. Thinking it was way too late to get a deal on tickets, my friend told me about ticketcity.com so I decided to try it. I found tickets at such a great price for looking so late!!! I would totally recommend this website, and will most likely be buying some playoff tickets for the Penguins as well through TicketCity! April 15, 2014
