San Jose Sharks Tickets Information

The San Jose Sharks may not have won a Stanley Cup title yet, but they continue to be a consistent playoff threat since their debut in 1991. The Sharks have only missed the postseason five times in their 20+ years as a franchise. San Jose has dominated their division since 2000, winning the division six times in that span. Their success during this time was highlighted with a Presidents’ Trophy during the 2008-2009 season. San Jose has come close to advancing to the Stanley Cup, losing in the conference championship three times over the years. The Sharks have been led by franchise all-time goal scorer and points leader Patrick Marleau. The forward was drafted by the Sharks in 1997 and has spent his entire career wearing a San Jose uniform. Also leading the Sharks has been center Joe Thornton. Thornton ranks second in total points in franchise history. Score with TicketCity - the place to go for San Jose Sharks hockey tickets.

2015 Sharks Season Preview

The regular season and the first 3 games of the 2013 NHL quarterfinals could not have gone much better for the San Jose Sharks hockey team. The Sharks finished the regular season with 51 wins and were tied for the 3rd highest points total in the Western Conference. They then took on rival Los Angeles Kings in the quarterfinals and jumped out to a commanding 3-0 series lead. That was when the wheels fell off, and the Sharks proceeded to lose 4 in a row to end their season.

The biggest questions surrounding the Sharks in 2014 will be leadership. Longtime captain Joe Thornton was stripped of his captain title following their first round playoff collapse, and it is yet to be seen how he will respond to his new role. Another big question mark will be in the net as Alex Stalock looks to push former starter Antti Niemi for the starting job. The additions of John Scott and Taylor Fedun were meant to add some toughness that the Sharks simply lacked in the final four games of last season. The San Jose Sharks have a large amount of talent on their team and should once again be one of the teams to beat in the Western Conference in 2014.

San Jose Sharks Rivals

Sharks vs. Ducks

The Ducks came into the NHL in 1993, and it was a natural rivalry between northern and southern California almost right away. They two faced off in first round of the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs, where the Ducks won in six games. The Sharks won Game 5 in OT to force it back to Anaheim, but lost 4-1 in Game 6.

Sharks vs. Kings

As two expansion clubs of the 1960s, these two teams had to do a lot to prove to the Northeastern teams they belonged in the NHL, including being the best in California. At the time of expansion, they were the only two teams west of the Mississippi River and were basically created to play each other to reduce travel time and costs. The Kings recently beat the Sharks in seven games in the playoffs, so you can expect the rivalry to be even more heated in the upcoming season.

San Jose Sharks in the Stanley Cup, Western Conference Championship, and NHL Playoffs

Believe it or not the Sharks were not the Bay Area’s first NHL team as the California Golden Seals were tenants for 9 failed seasons throughout the 70s and 80s. Enter the San Jose Sharks in 1991. The Sharks have become one of the NHL’s most recently successful teams, rattling off 8 consecutive playoff appearances as well as back-to-back Conference Finals in 2010/2011.

San Jose Sharks Event Guide

What time do gates open prior to a Sharks game?

Doors open 75 minutes before the puck drops at SAP Center.

Where are good places to eat before a Sharks game?

If you are a barbeque junkie don’t miss out on Henry’s Hi-Life. Henry’s is a favorite of food critics all over the country and is one of the best barbeque joints in California. For great Mexican food try La Victoria Taqueria, or Iguanas Taqueria. Both places are close to the arena and will not disappoint. If you enjoy trying incredibly hot wings, and love sports bars, try Smoke Eaters. Smoke Eaters is usually packed with Sharks fans, and has some of the best wings around. Other great places in the area are Billy Berk’s, Good Karma, and Flames Eatery & Bar.

Where is the best place to park at SAP Center?

SAP Center is surrounded by tons of parking. On the northwest corner of the arena is the A,B,C, Lot, which is the largest and closest parking option. On the south side of the arena are around 9 smaller lots that are located from Santa Clara Street to Otterson Street. If you are trying to save a little money, and are not afraid of a short walk, look on the east side of Guadalupe Parkway, as there are quite a few parking options in that area.

Does my child need a ticket to go to a Sharks game?

Children under 24 months old will be allowed to enter the arena without a ticket and must sit in a parents lap for the duration of the game. We recommend bringing proof of your child’s age to the gate with you to ensure they are allowed to enter the arena.
