The AT&T Center is one of the most modern arenas in the NBA and is constructed on the east side of San Antonio with easy access to local highways and public transportation. The venue was constructed in 2002 and functions as a multi-purpose facility that houses sporting events, concerts and conventions. The AT&T Center was built for the San Antonio Spurs and has been the scene of three of the team's four championships. The arena's main concourse is an inviting area that showcases a number of pieces of memorabilia from the team's ABA days, as well as sidelining concourses decorated with hanging lights and built to resemble a Mexican village. The arena also has a fan game area called "Fan Fiesta," where younger basketball fans can play a series of interactive games and try their hand at some three point shots.
The arena has seen plenty of pulse-pounding moments since its inception, as the San Antonio Spurs built themselves into champions throughout the 2000s. The team won its first title in 1999 at the Alamodome with the terrific tandem duo of David Robinson and Tim Duncan. The Spurs would win the NBA Title in 2003, 2005 and 2007 at the AT&T Center with myriad talented players, such as Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili.
While all of the Spurs' titles hold a special place in the hearts of San Antonio fans, many would agree that the 2003 championship was the sweetest. Hall of Famer David Robinson would win his second title and enjoy a positive end to a storied career that saw him bring his blood, sweat and tears to the court in San Antonio. While there were still plenty of marquee moments ahead, Spurs fans were content knowing that Robinson went out on top.
In addition to creating a world-class venue for its basketball team, the AT&T Center was also designed to be the primary concert and large-event venue for the city. The arena has hosted many huge shows over the years including Rihanna's Last Girl on Earth Tour, Miley Cyrus' blockbuster Wonder World Tour, Stone Temple Pilots' 2008 Reunion Tour and the Vans Warped Tour 2011. Whether it's a Spurs game or a headlining musical performance, the AT&T Center is one of the most stunning venues in all of Texas and always seems to have something exciting coming up on the horizon.
