MLS All Star Game Preview History
2011 MLS All-Star Game (vs. Manchester United) Preview: A British invasion is sure to heat-up the already fiery New Jersey summer when the boys from Manchester United come to face-off against the best from Major League Soccer in its All-Star Game. Join the soccer (or football… or futbol… or…) faithful as they head to Harrison, New Jersey’s own Red Bull stadium to see EPL stars like Dimitar Berbatov, Wayne Rooney and the hottest sensation going, Javier “Chicharito” Hernández take on MLS’ best!
This is the seventh straight year that European competition has been brought over to the U.S. to compete with the MLS All-Star team, and the second that the Red Devils have been fodder (the list goes, starting in 2005, Fulham, Chelsea, Glasgow Celtic, West Ham United, Everton and Manchester United). In those games, the MLS All-Stars have a 4-1-1 record, with its only loss coming against Man U in 2010 by a score of 2-5.
For Manchester United, this match is part of a tour that will send them to Chicago to play the MLS’ Fire and to the Northeast to go head-to-head with the New England Revolution. They will also go to our nation’s capital to play one of the most thrilling match-ups of the year in America, regardless of sport, against Barcelona.
The MLS All-Star Game will be taking place on July 27th at Red Bull Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey, home of the New York Red Bulls.
