Davis Cup Preview History

Official Secondary Ticket Provider of The Davis Cup2011 Davis Cup USA v Spain (Austin, Texas) Preview:
July is going to be unusually hotter in Austin this year. That’s because some of the world’s best tennis players, will descend upon the Texas capitol for exciting Davis Cup action pitting the United States against Spain. This matchup will be a “tie,” meaning that the loser is eliminated from further Davis Cup action for the season—which brings the excitement to another level!

The Americans will be well represented and led by first year coach Jim Courier, but for Andy Roddick it will be a homecoming. After helping oust the Chileans in Santiago during the first round of Davis Cup play, Roddick comes back to Austin, where he resides. He also has a 23-2 mark on US soil, which coupled with the US Team’s 4-0 record in Texas, makes it a formidable tandem of streaks. The Americans also have a winning mark against the Spaniards at 5-4, and will probably need all the mojo it musters against a Spanish squad that is a murder’s row of talent.

David Ferrer and Fernando Verdasco all rank in the top-nine of singles players in the world, which makes Spain the top team in Davis Cup play. Over the past eleven years, they have won four Davis Cup titles (2000, 2004, 2008, 2009), came in second in 2003, and again are the odds-on favorite to win the title again in 2011. For Roddick, Couier and other team members like James Blake and John Isner, it will be a test to beat the best. Luckily it will be played somewhere easily accessible for stateside fans to cheer their team on July 8-10, 2011.
