While there is nothing quite like attending a Broadway in New York City, the excitement of the show extends all over the country. Most of the high profile Broadway’s are continually touring from city to city bringing the opportunity to you, rather than the other way around.
Over the past decade Broadway has been on the rise. With an average ticket price of $66 in 2004, the growing popularity of Broadway has driven the average ticket price up almost 50% to $102. As one of Broadways most popular shows, Wicked has retained its position as the top grossing show every year but one since 2004. After several years of coming in a close second, Wicked was overtaken by The Lion King in 2013 and remains at the top in 2014 with over half-a-million seats sold.
Other popular Broadway’s topping the charts include The Book of Mormon ($187 average ticket price), Kinky Boots ($125 average ticket price), and Matilda – The Musical ($98).
