The Blue Man Group is a creative theatrical performance that is performed all over the world. The Blue Man Group is based off a whimsical percussion that began with three friends on the streets of New York in the 1980’s and has grown to hundreds of cast members performing worldwide in cities such as New York, Boston, Chicago, Berlin, Oberhausen and Las Vegas. The Blue Man Group differ from city to city based on cultural differences and size of the theatre.
The Blue Man Group consists of three, enigmatic bald and blue characters that attack all of your senses throughout the performance that is carried out with ordinary percussion instruments. Blue Man Group use bizarre combinations of strings, drums, tubes, airpoles and more miscellaneous items such as the shaker gong and the gyro shot. Audience members sitting close to the action sometimes get splattered by the different media used from the show! This creative, artistic show is a must see for all ages.
The Blue Man Group has made several TV guest appearances over the years including Live with Kelly and Regis 4 times and The Tonight Show with Hay Leno 17 times. Blue Man Group have also performed music for movies and TV shows and in 1999 their debut album ADUIO was nominated for a Grammy. Blue Man Group - Good, but not great I had pretty high expectations going to see the Blue Man Group and they were not all met. There were some great parts, but there were a few segments that were kind of slow and took a long time to develop. Overall I give it a 3 out of 5 Star rating. June 22, 2011
In base theatre better than tour I have seen the Blue Man Group three times. Once in Chicago, once in Las Vegas and once on tour. Out of the three the performance of the one at the theatre in Chicago was the best. The Las Vegas one was good too, but the tour lost some of the magic. The one in Chicago was awesome because it is a smaller more inmate then the other two. Also since they have a long term lease on the theatre and they are they only ones that performer there they made the space all theirs. The one in Vegas was great it was back when they used to be at the Luxor. So I can't say anything about their new digs Venetian. But this show was most special to be because I proposed to my wife back stage after the show with the cast and crew. The tour I feel is still good but loses some of the magic. So I recommend if you see them go to one of their base theatres in Chicago, New York, Las Vegas, Boston, or Orlando. July 1, 2011
Non-stop entertainment Saw BMG in Chicago for the 1st time. Theater is small and every seat is a good seat. Their performance was awesome -- such creativity!! This 3 man group is adept at musical and acting skills. Their facial expresssions "speak" volumes. The crew and additional musicians concocted segment after segment of "colorful" entertainment. There is no intermission -- show lasts for about 2 hrs. Children (ages 10 and up) as well as adults are kept in rapt attention, looking forward as to what the group will do next. BMG interacts well with audience and selects a couple of people to go on stage with them -- this makes the show even more hilarious. Tickets arent't cheap, but you certainly get your money's worth! Go to see them at least once! January 8, 2012
