The Radio City Christmas Spectacular will be coming to a city near you this Christmas season. The Broadway show and historical theatrical performance will be kicking off its tour in Pittsburgh, PA on November 12, 2009, at the Benedum Center for the Performing Arts, as Madison Square Garden Entertainment launches an ambitious touring arena version of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. The 2009 touring production will exhibit all scenes from the highly acclaimed 75th edition of the Spectacular.
The Radio City Christmas Spectacular has enjoyed residency at 30 theaters around the United States since 1994. However, the 2009 Christmas Spectacular tour is a full-fledged excursion for the performance, as the multi-million production will grace venues in the 7,000 – 12,000 seating capacity range. Because the production requires a large enough venue to reproduce the magic it evokes at the Radio City Music Hall, the tour will favor large capacity arenas in place of the traditionally smaller theaters.
Producer Jonathan Hochwald said that the use of larger arenas will deliver the full experience of the production.
"Our guiding principle was to take this great show we're so proud of on the road intact, where we can really maintain the 'spectacular' nature of the show," says Hochwald. "We wanted to deliver something completely over the top that would be the biggest holiday spectacle ever seen in this country.
"The Radio City Christmas Spectacular is going to be the biggest holiday event of the season. Make sure to get your tickets before this spectacular performance sells out.
