What began as a band playing a few Beatles covers in the70s eventually became one of the most popular shows on Broadway. The origins of the show date to a band named "Reign" that played clubs in California in the 1970s. Among their catalog, covers of popular Beatles tunes. The band would change their name to "Rain" and be tapped by Dick Clark to star in his Beatles biopic "Birth of The Beatles."
It wasn't until the early 80's that the bands connection to Broadway began. At the time the musical review Beatlemania was a hit on the Great White Way. When Beatlemania closed in '82, cast members from the Broadway production began playing with the band, which eventually became recognized officially as a version of Beatlemania.
The band Rain continued touring throughout the intervening years, with a number of cast changes. The current incarnation opened on Broadway for what was to be a limited 12 week run at the Neil Simon Theatre on October 19, 2010. The show was a hit, and it eventually transferred to the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on February 8, 2011 to continue its successful run.
Theatergoers can enjoy the classic music of The Beatles with this authentic show that delivers great music. Whether on Broadway on tour, don't miss the chance to experience this unique show.
