For a school with one of the smallest enrollments in Division I FBS, the Wake Forest Demon Deacon football program has shown itself to be one of the best in the nation in the last two years. Head coach Jim Grobe has led his team to an Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) regular season title and championship title in 2006, as well as a trip to the Orange Bowl. In 2007 the nation watched the Demon Deacons post a 9-4 record and win the Meineke Car Care bowl over UConn. Groves Stadium will rock again this coming season as Wake Forest looks for more conference glory and another BCS Bowl bid.

Garrity was also head coach when the Demon Deacon nickname was first used, and he helped solidify it as the official name.
