Located in beautiful Orange County, California, Anaheim is certainly a jewel of the west coast. There are enough activities to appeal to everyone, from sporting events to theme parks to a rich cultural history that surely leave visitors wanting to come back for more.
When it comes to sports the city is most definitely known for being home to the Angels of the MLB. Thought here has been some confusion as to whether they play in Los Angeles, there is no mistake about it - this is an Anaheim team.
The Halos, as they are affectionately known, play their home games in beautiful Angel Stadium of Anaheim, and have since 1966. Though it is one of the older parks in the league, it certainly is not lacking in character and class. Thanks to a renovation in the late '90s, the park is highlighted by picturesque views offered by the gorgeous rock formation to out in left center field. Add to that the fact almost every game is held in perfect weather, and it is hard to find something not to like.
While the Angels may be the longest-tenured team in Anaheim, they certainly aren't the only ones. The Anaheim Ducks of the NHL are one of the most beloved teams in the league, and their popularity has only grown since they captured the 2007 Stanley Cup championship. The Ducks home ice is located at the Honda Center, which also plays host to numerous other events including a bevy of concerts from the likes of No Doubt, Barbara Streisand and Mariah Carey.
Anaheim also has plenty more attractions than athletic events. Perhaps most notably is the Anaheim Convention Center, which is the largest such structure on the west coast. The building has hosted a plethora of well-attended events, including BlizzCon, the 1984 Summer Olympics and the Anime Expo.
In addition to the Convention Center, visitors definitely need to spend some time at Disneyland Resort - which features the original Disneyland Theme Park. But that is not all, the resort also includes a number of popular concert venues and restaurants including a House of Blues and ESPN Zone.
California is certainly not lacking in appealing cities, but Anaheim may be the best of them all. Between concerts, expos and sporting events aplenty, this city by the Pacific will have something for just about everyone to enjoy.
