Duel at Daytona 2021
Once front-row qualifying is set the Sunday before the big race, the Duel at Daytona is how the rest of the field will be set. Two exciting Thursday night races determine first the inside row positions and then the outside row slots.
Duel at Daytona Race Format
Each Duel race is 60 laps and teams are required to make one pit stop. At Daytona, 60 laps translates to 150 miles which is 30 percent of the full Daytona 500 race. The Duel race lineups are set by qualifying speeds from the single-lap Qualifying session. The top 10 drivers in each Duel race win season points, so these races are not just important for starting position in "The Great American Race".
